Joshua 16:1-end-The chapter highlighted the lot of the children of Joseph-Manasseh and Ephraim–and the last verse reads “And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute. Chapter 17:1-end recorded the lot of the Manasseh, and verse 12-13 says, “Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.” The children of Joseph later went to Joshua to ask for another portion and Joshua gave them the “woods country”  because they claimed to be a great people. This was the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, but Joshua encouraged them as we read in verses 17-18 “And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power, thou shalt not have one lot only. But the mountains shall be thine, for it is  a wood, and thou shalt cut it down, and the outgoings of it shall be thine, for thou  shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.”.

How do you see yourselves children of God?  Do you see yourself the way God sees you? Joshua told the children of Joseph that it does not matter the iron chariots the Canaanites have or their strength,, they can drive them out because their God is greater than them all. This mindset helped Joshua in all his conquest. He went to all those territories in the power of the Most High God and destroyed them all. This should be the mindset of every Christian because the Spirit of God dwells in us. It is a matter of believing that He is in you, and you can do ALL THINGS through Him (Philippians 4:13). God uses us as vessels, and as battle axe. Many servants of God that have succeeded in ministry took this seriously. They know they can not do anything without Him, so they depend on Him wholeheartedly for instructions and guidance. The problem we have today is that we have allowed the spirit of unbelief to deprive us of our possession. We have not totally dwelt on the word of God and make it our priority. God told Joshua not to allow the word to depart from his mouth but to meditate on it day and night. That was the key to the success of Joshua, because there is greater achievement when we dwell on the word of God. In it (word), God says,” you will be able to observe all that are written therein, for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua1:8). Hebrew 4:12 says The Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper that any two-edged sword ..” If we want the power of God to manifest in our lives, we need to read the word, chew on it, digest it, believe it, apply it to all our situations, and we will see positive results in all our endeavors.

Because the children of Israel did not take the word of God seriously like Moses, Joshua, and Caleb, many of them did not make any effort to drive out the inhabitants of the land given to them and these people mixed with them and influenced them negatively. Our God is the Alpha and the Omega, He knows the end from the beginning, and therefore not obeying His commandments and ordinances is detrimental to us. If we want to succeed in this journey of life, we need to make Him and whatever He tells us to do our priority. Read the word, hide it in your hearts and you will not sin against Him, and the power to defeat the devil will become operational in your life. And the weapon of the enemy will not prosper in our lives when we are in the will of God. I pray today that as we have entered into a new month (November), the LORD will pour Himself into us and re-energize us with His power to bind the enemy and lose us from his stronghold in Jesus Name, Amen, Shalom!!!
