Joshua 10:15-end–The remaining of this chapter started with the five kings of the Amorites that hid themselves in the cave and this was made known to Joshua-the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, these were brought to him and he killed them all and were returned to the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day.
I have not visited Israel, but if God spares my life and gives me grace to visit Israel, these various memorials will be of interest to me because it will make the Bible more real to me. Those who have gone said this was what they felt when they walked through the land Jesus walked. What a blessing to be counted among the children of God! My desire is to have more revelation of the God of Israel. Those who have had special encounter with God of Israel never remained the same again. A case in point is Paul the Apostle who met with God on the way to Damascus. When you read through his writings and the sufferings he endured for Christ’s sake, one should be more convinced that living for Christ is worth everything we can give up. Also the persecution of the early Christians, throwing them to lions, and burning many of them alive, and yet all these did not stop the spreading of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus to all the earth as it is this day, it is worth thinking about that there is POWER behind this WORD they preached and we also preach today.
Let us that believe in the WORD serve God with sincerity of purpose so that we can also experience the demonstration of the power of God in all that we do. I do not want to serve God in vain. I want His power to transform my very being, that I will say like Paul, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20.
Joshua adhered to the commandments of God like his predecessor, Moses. He became strong and full of courage as he continued to discharge his duties with all his heart, mind and soul. He was able to speak to the sun and the moon and the LORD honored his word. He also continued to conquer all the remaining cities like Makkedah, Libnah, Lachish, Eglon Hebron, Debir, Kadesh-barnea, Gaza, and Goshen, all these cities Joshua smote and did not leave anyone breathing, and they took over their land at one time because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel. The LORD promised to be with Joshua if he would not allow the book of the law of Moses to depart from his mouth, but to meditate on it day and night, because he would prosper and have great success if he could do this. So the success of Joshua is an evidence that he followed the instructions of the LORD God of Israel.
I believe if those of us that have given our lives to Christ can abide by the word of God as Joshua did, we will also experience the move of God in a greater dimension too. Let us bring ourselves to this reality and turn totally to God knowing that He would show Himself strong on our behalf if we can OBEY ALL His instructions. I pray today for those who are yet to give their lives to Christ, that they will have an encounter with the LORD and turn from their wicked ways. I also pray for lukewarm Christians that they would receive fresh fire from the LORD and become hot for God in Jesus’ Name, Amen. Shalom!
