Joshua 6:1-end-In carrying out the instructions God gave to Joshua he told the children of Israel that the city is slated for complete destruction, man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey. Only Rahab and all that are with her should be spared, and they should abstain from the accursed things, lest they become accursed when they take of the accursed things and make the camp of Israel a curse. He also told them that all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the LORD, they shall come to the treasury of the LORD.

The spies brought out Rahab and her family and left them outside the camp of Israel. They burned the city with fire and Rahab and her family dwelt among the children of Israel till today. We can compare the first destruction of the earth with the flood while only Noah and his family was spared to continue to live. Salvation belongs to God. Genesis 6:9 says “Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. Verse 17 says “And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark,-you your sons, your wife, and your son’s wives with you.”. Only Noah and his family was spared from the first destruction with the flood. Now in the destruction of city of Jericho, only Rahab, a harlot, with her family were spared. What is the criterial that God uses to spare people from destruction ?. Noah was a just man, but Rahab was a harlot What makes Rahab qualified to be spared? It was not her righteousness because she was not living right. But she was spared because of the GRACE and MERCY of God on whosoever believes in Him, and calls upon the Name of the LORD. Romans 10:10 says “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” God qualified her to be saved along with her family. because of her belief in the God of Israel and also in sparing the lives of the spies.

This confirms the plan of God for one to be saved through believing in the only Son of God. If one believes in Jesus Christ, one is saved from destruction that is going to be poured upon the earth. The earth is also reserved for fire according to the scriptures. Therefore determine today to be among those that will be saved from the destruction that is to come. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. May we all be blessed and be blameless and spotless at the end in Jesus Name, Amen!!!
