Joshua 6:1-end -We are notified at the beginning of this chapter the state of the people of Jericho because of the children of Israel. If you can still recollect that two spies came to check this city and they were housed by Rahab the harlot. She told them the whole city is in panic mode because of them. The entire city is straightly shut, no one is going out or coming in. All their gates are locked and they have high walls that are well secured. Unfortunately they are already on the way to their being terminated from the face of the earth because the LORD had given them into the hands of Joshua. The LORD told Joshua in verse 2 “See I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of ram’s horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. When they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.”

This is another chapter that is full of the demonstration of the power of God. There is no security in any material things of this world, be it an alarm system that surrounds your house, barbwire that walled your compound, or security people that are watching over your house 24/7. The only security that does not fail is that from the God of the Universe. Psalm 127:1 says “Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” Imagine the security that the city of Jericho had built around themselves, and yet the LORD told Joshua, “I have given it into your hand”. It was a matter of going there to possess their possession. It was that easy. Those who believe in the LORD will see the glory of God (John 11:40). The glory of God was seen in the demonstration of His power in the life of the children of Israel. Joshua followed all the instructions, walking through the city once a day for six days and the seventh day, walking through the city seven times, and the seventh time a blow of trumpets by the priests and the shout that followed, acted as bomb shells and all their security walls were demolished, raised to the ground. There was nothing that could stand against the power of this our God. He used the Rod of Moses to open the Red Sea, and the priests’ feet carrying the Ark stepping on the Jordan river parted the river, and now the trumpets of the priests and the shout of the congregation demolished the walls of Jericho. Have you ever seen anyone demonstrating power in these different ways? No one has ever performed such wonders in the history of human race. This is why Moses says “There is no one else like you, our Most High God”

What God has done among the children of Israel are for the whole world to know Him as God, and depend only on Him. Do not make any image to represent Him. Do not worship the sun, the moon, the stars, the rivers, animals, wood, or any other created things. They are all created by God. You cannot see Him, why should you use any image to represent Him. You cannot see Him, but you can see the works of His hand and also that His power is UNLIMITED. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says ‘Believe in the LORD your God and you shall be established. Believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” I hope as you are reading with me, your faith is getting stronger and stronger, and you are putting all your anxieties and burdens on Him to carry for you. He is a Burden Bearer. It does not matter what is confronting you like the Red Sea or Jordan river, He will come to your rescue if you can cast the burden on Him and believe that He will take care of it. My prayer is that you will enjoy the abundant life that He came to give to you as He says in John 10:10, in Jesus’ Name, Amen. Shalom!!!
