Joshua 4:1-9- In this chapter, the LORD commanded stones from the Jordan River to be carried by the elders of each tribe along with them as they cross over the river. These stones were taken from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. These stones serve as a memorial to the wonderful work that God performed by parting the river Jordan for them. The stones are there to this day. This is another awesome work of God that He did to make Himself known among the children of Israel and in the world.
People that have visited the Holy Land, of Israel, made us to realize that the Bible becomes alive when they saw all the landmarks that are mentioned in the Bible. This is the reason why God made the children of Israel erect such evidences that generation after generation could relate to this eternal God, the God of the whole universe. , He made Himself known through the children of Israel. Isaiah 43 10-13 says “You are My witnesses” says the LORD, “And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor there shall be after Me. I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no Savior. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, there was no foreign god among you, Therefore you are My witnesses,” says the LORD, “that I am God. Indeed before the day was, I am He.”
The above verses are declarations from the Almighty God proving there is No ONE before Him, neither is any ONE after Him. The ONLY God doing mighty things. From generation to generation, He is making Himself known. He is not a hidden God. We can see the works of His Hand on a daily basis, though we might not see Him. Moses experienced Him, Joshua is also leading the children of Israel to the promised land through His guidance. What about you? Can you declare that this God had made Himself known to you since you gave your life to Him. If Yes, then you are one of His witnesses. This is what He wants each of us to do, having experienced the salvation through our Lord Jesus, we should proclaim Him by sharing His LOVE among others. The Bible says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16). God loves all of us unconditionally. This is the truth we need to share in the world that is full of hatred and dissension. Let LOVE of God be our landmarks, our memorial stones, that saved us from our wretchedness and brought us into His marvelous light. My prayer is that we will continue to be living stones for Him that will serve as witnesses to other people in Jesus Name, Amen. Shalom!!!
