Deuteronomy 34:1-end – This marks the end of the life of Moses, a man of God, whom God used powerfully. From the time He called him from the burning bush, God set him apart as a vessel of honor. As a matter of fact, we can say that this Moses was a special creation of God whom God raised and nurtured in the camp of his enemy. He was born at a period when male Hebrew children were supposed to be killed because Pharaoh the king of Egypt was envious and afraid of the children of Israel thinking that they might join other nations against them peradventure war broke out among them. The mother tried to hide him for three months, and after that she placed him in a basket n a river where the daughter of Pharaoh saw him and picked him up from the river hence his name, Moses. This young boy was given to his mother to nurse him for her, and he became her son.
Jochebed, the mother of Moses gave up this boy to God, and God made this boy to grow and be educated in the palace of the king. where he acquired all the knowledge needed for the future work that God had for him. Whatever you give to God, God turns them to inestimable piece of jewel which He uses for His glory. That was what He did to Moses. Are you ready to give yourself, husband, or children to Him? He would do the same in your life. Moses was thoroughly trained by the Egyptian mother and also by his natural mother, and by age forty he committed a murder by killing an Egyptian whom he thought was maltreating an Hebrew. The news spread like fire and to avoid being arrested and killed, he ran away from Egypt to Midian where he stayed for another forty years. God always raises a Savior in a generation to save His people. Compared to all other leaders, the Bible says “But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, in all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.” .
Moses was called up to the Mount Nebo in the land of Moab, where the LORD showed him the promised land and there he died and the LORD buried him but no one knows till today the place God buried him. What a mystery!. Joshua was the next leader whom Moses laid hand on to continue to lead the children of Israel across Jordan to the promised land.
God has everybody’s blueprint in His Hand and He alone knows the purpose for which He created you. Even if we make mistakes, we are still able to fulfill that purpose if we return to God. The forty years of Moses in Midian must have been a time of reflection and repentance, seeking a come back to God. He must have learnt that he was not made a judge and that God is the only Judge of the Earth. Also doing what is wrong is always detrimental to the wellbeing of everyone. He was separated from his family, brother, and sister for forty years. At the appointed time, God drew him nearer to Himself. he became so humble that the Bible says, Moses was the meekest man on earth. Throughout his leadership period of forty years, he never raised himself above them, he loved them as he would love his own children. He feared the LORD and obeyed His commandments to the end. Psalm 103:7 says, “He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.” God made known His ways to Moses, and reveals His secrets to him, therefore Moses walked with God to the end. My prayer today is that we will walk with God on the path of righteousness to the end in Jesus Name, Amen!!!
