Deuteronomy 30:1-end-This chapter continues the blessing and the cursing of the earlier chapter if the children of Israel obey or disobey His statutes and ordinances. Verse15-20 says “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command  you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess—I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days, and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them..

Joshua that took over from Moses said the same thing to the children of Israel at the end of his own assignment before his death. Joshua 24::15 says “choose you this day whom you will serve—-but as for me and my house we shall serve the LORD. Moses called heaven and earth to witness his declaration of blessing and cursing upon the children of Israel. The Bible says they all served the LORD throughout the time of Joshua and the elders that witnessed the wonderful works of God among them. Unfortunately this did not last long. They deviated so soon from serving God, and suffered attacks from the surrounding nations because they disobeyed God.

Why would history not passed down to these children of Israel? They had rich heritage and I am sure the book of Moses was well written for them to make reference to. With all the curses, should they not have tried to preserve their purity as the LORD had declared them to be His own. It seems to me that the desires of our flesh have so much power over us that only the power of God could subdue it. The same trend that we saw with the children of Israel is the same pattern we are experiencing today. John 14:6 says “Jesus says unto him “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the father but by me.”  The book of John also says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16. With these declarations, some of us are still doubting whether we should put our trust in Him completely or not. Some of us believe that there are many ways to God. Some people did not believe that He came to die for our sins.

Fortunately there are some of us that have given our lives to Him and have seen the transformation from our former ways of life to a new one. We are witnesses of the power of God that makes us new when we yield to Him. The deed of our body is mortified when we allow Him to work in us for it is God that works in us both to will and to do of His  good pleasure.(Phil. 2:13) . So those that are still struggling in sin, have not yielded their members (body) to Jesus Christ .The Holy Spirit in us is the Spirit of Jesus Christ whom we yield to anytime He prompts us. The children of Israel did not experience the Holy Spirit baptism. Therefore they were not able to control their actions just like those that have not given their lives to Christ also behave. By their fruits you shall know them, the scripture says. John 15:5 says “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abides in me, and I in Him, the same will bring forth much fruit, for without me ye can do nothing. This should resonate in us at all times so as not to loose focus of our final destination. May the LORD fill us up to overflow so that we may bear fruits that will remain in Jesus Name, Amen!!!
