Deuteronomy 24–The remaining section of this chapter touches on the welfare of the children of Israel generally. A man who just got married should not be charged with any business or go to war. Those who have must share with the poor and the needy. The hired servants must not be oppressed, and each day, they must be given their wages, because they are poor and if they cry out to the LORD against them. it will be sin unto them. When they are harvesting their crops , they must remember the widow, the poor, the fatherless and the strangers. God reminded them that they were a slave in the land of Egypt, therefore they were commanded to be kind and gentle to everyone..
This is again the same God that has never changed though He hates our sins but He loves us unconditionally. He does not want us to treat our fellow human beings unfairly and want us to share the same love He has for us with others as well. Our Lord Jesus admonishes us that we should love one another as He has loved us. 1 John 2:10-11 says “He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.”
Therefore just as our Lord Jesus Christ gave His life for the sins of the whole world because of the love He has for us, so also we must show our love to Him by obeying His commandments. John 15:12 says “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” If the love of God is in us it will be easy for us to obey Him so that we can all live in peace among ourselves. The world is in a chaotic situation because we do not carry out His commandments. Recently it was reported that a pastor killed his wife. Can we imagine the magnitude of this hatred that ended his wife’s life? This was supposed to be a man of God that had preached to many people. What went wrong? Only God can answer our questions.
God wants us to love each other. He demonstrated it by giving His life for us. We are all created in His image and we should aspire to walk in His footsteps.. He wants us to be ONE in Him, without any prejudice, or discrimination, or hatred. Those of us who are waiting for His return should always be careful of all these commandments to keep them so that nothing will stand against us at His appearing. .May the LORD find us ready, blameless and spotless at His appearing in Jesus Name, Amen. Be blessed!!!
