Deuteronomy 12:1-31-This is a chapter that deals with three critical things which are; (1) the place where God shall choose for His Name to dwell and that will be the only place where they can offer all the offerings to Him (2) they can eat any type of flesh (both clean and unclean) that they lusts after, but they must not eat their blood because the blood is the life and (3) they should not be ensnared by following the gods of the land they are occupying because the people committed a lot of abominations which the LORD hates like burning their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

The three critical things that are written above are all wrapped in the saying of our Lord Jesus Christ and what he stands for. He says “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. (John 14:6-7). This validates the first point which says His Name will be placed only in one place. His Name has been placed in Jesus Christ and knowing Jesus Christ is knowing the Father, and when you reject the Lord Jesus, you reject the Father also. Our Lord Jesus Christ laid down His life for us by shedding His blood on the Cross of Calvary for without the shedding of the blood, there is no remission of sins. Revelation 12:11 says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony., and they did not love their lives unto death.”.That is why the entire Bible is the story of Jesus, hidden in the Old testament and revealed in the New. The LORD told them not to be ensnared by going after the gods of the land, and that He is the only God. The Name of our Lord Jesus is the only Name given to us whereby we can be saved. (Acts 4:12). At the mention of this Name, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.(Philippians 2:9-11).

With all these verses, we can relate to all that God commanded them to do and to avoid, if they want to live long in the land God has given them to possess. The same thing applies to us too if we want to inherit eternal life (our inheritance), it is only through giving our lives to Jesus solely, and serving Him with all our heart, our mind and our soul. If we are still not sure who Jesus is, it is better we read all that He says in the New Testament that He is  The more we read His word, the more He will manifest Himself in our lives, strengthening us so that we can continue to please Him and grow in His knowledge. May the LORD uphold us to the end in Jesus Name, Amen. Shalom!!!
