Deuteronomy 11:1-end–This chapter is a continuation of the charge of Moses to the children of Israel to remind them again that they were the generation that witnessed all the miracles that the LORD did among them. Therefore their children must be taught and passed down to their descendants. Being able to enjoy the good land the LORD is giving them depends solely on their obedience to the LORD their God. He also said the land is not like the land of Egypt where they had to water the garden with water, but the LORD Himself waters this land, “the land drinks water from the rain of heaven , a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.”(11-12). This is why the LORD is making this land available¬† to His people because it is quite unlike others. But if they disobey Him, He will shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and they will perish. Obedience to all His commandments will make them to enjoy former rain and latter rain, the LORD will fight for them, dispossessing greater and mightier nations than themselves. Moses set before them the blessings of obeying God (which they shall place on Mount Gerizim) and the curses of their disobedience (to be placed on Mount Ebal). These two mountains are on the other side of Jordan, toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the plain opposite Gilgal.

I have written again all that Moses charged the children of Israel for us to appreciate how much effort Moses made to emphasize the blessings of obedience to God. He said it over and over again that “OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY” to receiving all that God has promised them. Without a shadow of doubt, the same thing is applicable to us today if we want to enjoy the goodness of God in the land of the living. Are you dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty? Brothers and sisters, that is the best place to be, because when you do, you will receive on a continuous basis the former rain and latter rain in their due season, and you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and your leaves shall not wither, and whatever you do shall prosper. He will fight your battle and no weapon formed against you shall prosper. When you read through the Bible and observe how God pour His wrath upon the children of Israel because of their sin, you will not want to incur His wrath by disobeying Him. God hates our evil ways, He detests sin, as is written in Proverbs 6:16-19 “These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren” Check this list and examine yourself. To be in right standing with God, we need to keep away from what the LORD hates. I pray that the LORD our God will continue to open us to what can deprive us from enjoying His blessings here and being with Him at the end, and for Him to give us the GRACE to run away from them and OBEY Him to the end in Jesus Name, Amen. Be Blessed!!!
