Deuteronomy 7:1-end -The chapter continues with the instruction from Moses to remind them to totally destroy the nations whose land they were about to possess so that they do not pollute them because they are a holy people to the LORD. Verse 6 says “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.” He continued that the LORD did this only because He had made an oath with their fathers and that was why He redeemed them from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

1 Peter 2:9 reads-“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy”: Comparing the scripture in Deuteronomy 7 and the one in 1 Peter 2:9, I cannot but give thanks to the Almighty God, who through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ redeemed the whole world to Himself by His death on the cross. The inhabitants of the land of Canaan were destined to destruction because they were idol worshipers. They were not supposed to be pitied but to be destroyed including their gods, while the people of God who have been set apart as holy people of God would now take their place.  My own grandfathers were idol worshipers but the grace of God brought my father to the Light of the Gospel through whom I too became a Christian. We received Mercy of God  through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore all believers of the Gospel are chosen generation. This is our inheritance in the redemptive work of our LORD Jesus, who redeemed us from our bondage to sin (darkness) and we are now brought into the Light. We should be singing His praises that we are no more condemned because we are in Christ Jesus. Our Lord Jesus paid the price with His blood. Therefore we should be living to please Him. John 15::9-10 says, “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you, abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”

Remember we were not loved before, but now we are loved, We did not receive mercy before, but now we receive mercy. We should now enjoy all the Abrahamic blessings that the children of Israel were destined to enjoy because of the covenant God had with Abraham. If we have given our lives to Christ, this is our entitlement and our joy will be full if we can continue to abide in Him. I pray that the LORD will increase our understanding of His Word so that we can enjoy all the benefits that He has for us.Keep reading the Word and stay connected to Him, and you will be able to fulfill all that He has for you in Jesus Name. God bless!!!
