Deuteronomy 2:7..Because so far what I have read is a recount of all that had happened in earlier chapters, i decided not to repeat myself but to pick few verses as the LORD leads to speak on. So today I am going to speak on chapter 2:7 which says”For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand, He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; YOU HAVE LACKED NOTHING.”(NIV)
The faithfulness of God is the emphasis of this verse. For 40 years, the children of Israel walked through the wilderness where they could not plant crops, nor trade with other people, but the LORD God provided for their needs every day for 40 years. Manna came from heaven, and water from the Rock to quench their thirst. What a wonderful God we serve !. This was what our Lord Jesus Christ discussed as part of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:25-26 where He says ” Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
These scriptures of Matthew 6:25-26, and the Deuteronomy 2:7 are food for thought. God took care of the children of Israel for 40 years and they lacked nothing, why are we always running from pillar to post without remembering these scripture of letting Him take control of our lives by depending on Him completely?. I believe most of us run into sin in our bid to take care of some earthly desires. Many times we do not know how to do it in moderation. We continue to seek for more and more and we forget to seek the Giver intimately. God desires us to seek Him first, to make our heavenly home our priority, doing this will release more blessings onto us because it is His pleasure to meet our needs as He does to other things He created. (all the creatures He created).
Therefore let us daily cast our burdens on Him, and think less of any problem that besets us. Let us ask for His presence daily as we walk through the wilderness of life. He is more than able to take care of our needs. Ephesians 3:20 says “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, Amen.” Be blessed!!!
