Numbers 35:1-end-The chapter deals with three major things, one is the Levites inheritance should come from the donation from the other tribes-about 42 cities were supposed to be contributed to them to dwell in and to take care of their cattle and goods. then six cities were also to be set aside as cities of refuge for man-slayer to run to for safety pending judgment. Thirdly, the man-slayer must thoroughly be investigated  to be sure that it was a mistake and that there was no hostility between them. There must be more than one witness before he could be found guilty or non guilty. If not guilty he should stay in that city of refuge until the priest dies. If guilty, he should be made to come back to the city, and pay the price with his blood because it is only his blood that can cleanse the city of the defilement he had caused.

This chapter reminds me of Psalm 91:2 that says that “I will say of the LORD, He is  my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him will I trust. ” Our God takes care of everyone because of His love for all of us. He provides a way of escape for us even when we make mistakes. That is why He opens His hands all the time to receive us  when we turn back to Him despite all our transgressions and sins  For us to find forgiveness and be reconciled to Him, He made available from the foundation of the world a Lamb that was slain for mankind. Only the blood can cleanse the land that was defiled by shedding of blood. This is why only the blood of the innocent Lamb of God that can cleanse us from all the sins we have committed.. We need to be grateful to God for making this redemption available to all mankind. He says  “whosoever believe in Him (Jesus) will not perish but have everlasting life.”

I also appreciate the way He abundantly prepare for the Levites, the tribe He set aside to do His work. So also you are the called of God if you have given your life to Christ Surely He will meet you at the point of your needs. David says “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23). Jesus is our refuge, and our mighty fortress. It is through Him that we can achieve our purpose in life. Therefore we have opportunity today to thank Him for being our refuge and then rededicate ourselves to Him. God bless you as you make this decision today. Shalom!!!
