Numbers 23:20-26–“Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.21 “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen [d]wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God is with him, And the shout of a King is among them.22 God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox. 23 “For there is no [e]sorcery against Jacob, Nor any [f]divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!’ 24 Look, a people rises like a lioness, And lifts itself up like a lion; It shall not lie down until it devours the prey, And drinks the blood of the slain.”25 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all!” 26 So Balaam answered and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you, saying, ‘All that the Lord speaks, that I must do’?”
The continuation of this chapter as written above emphasizes the covenant God has with these people and nothing can change it. It is sealed for ever. The Lion of the tribe of Judah is their God and therefore they are likened to lion and lioness who no animal can confront and would not rest until they have devoured their enemies. So there is no sorcery or divination against these people. They are secured in God’s hands.
It is good to know that we have the same covenant and security in Jesus Christ that the children of Israel have. We are covered by the blood of Jesus and there is no weapon that is fashioned against us that can ever prosper. This is our heritage the bible says and we must hold on to this at all times. Balaam who is the one representing the people of Moab could not swing in the favor of his people against the children of Israel, because he does not have power of his own. He has to do whatever the LORD says. Do you respond to God’s leading like Balaam. He told Balak “Did I not tell you saying, All that the LORD speaks, that I must do? Balaam would have reaped the consequences if he ever tried to do it his way., but God prevailed over him.
Let us make conscious effort to do everything according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. John 16 tells us that the Spirit of God will guide us into all truth. Do you lack direction, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. He knows the way, and what is good for you, because he has the blueprint of your life. Trust Him today and He will direct your path. God bless you.
