Numbers 22:9-14–This chapter as we mentioned yesterday was discussing King Balak of Moab who sent messengers to Balaam to help him curse the children of Israel. The response of Balaam was a testimony that God was actually using him to speak to his people. He told them to wait until the next morning to hear what God would say to him. Verse 9-13 says “And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of  Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying, Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth, come now, curse me them, peradventure I shall be able to overcome them and drive them out. And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them, thou shalt not curse the people for they are blessed. And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.”
The children of Israel did not have any slightest idea of what was going on between their God and Balak the prophet who was assigned to curse them. We could see that nothing can happen to any child of God without His approval. Balaam needed His permission to curse them and because God told him not to go with them, he sent a message to the king that God did not allow him to do what he wanted. We are serving a God that monitors each of our activities without our knowledge, Hebrew 4:13 says “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”  Therefore this gentile prophet was not allowed to go with them. He obeyed God completely. This was why he had a good relationship with God. God wants us to obey His commandments. He told us to seek Him and we shall find Him. The Bible tells us while he tarries in prayer in the night God came to him. Do we have a similar relationship with God? God desires us to have a deeper and consistent fellowship with Him. Our minds must be focused on Him at all times. When we do these by meditating on His Word, we will hear him call us by name and minister to our needs. This is how to trust God, asking His permission before we take any step. I am not there yet, but I am making effort not to take any step without hearing His voice. The last thought on this incidence is that God fights our battles and protects us from all dangers out there. This is the confidence that we have in Him even through this pandemic period. He is our shield and mighty fortress, and no evil will befall any of us in Jesus’ Name, Amen. Be blessed!!!
