Numbers 21:10-end—The remaining of this chapter recorded their various journeys from one city to the other. The king of the Amorites attacked the children of Israel when they asked permission for passage through their land. The LORD gave them victory and they were totally defeated and they occupied their land. When they turned to go through Bashan, Og, the king of Bashan went after them together with all his people at Edrei. The LORD told Moses that he should not fear them that He had delivered them into his hand. So Moses went after them, smote him, his sons, and all his people until there was none left alive, and they possessed their land.
Their journey started to go smoothly because they felt more comfortable with Moses and God. In between these verses, the LORD told Moses to gather them together that He would give them water. (V 16-17). They did not complain this time around before the LORD spoke to Moses about water. This tells us that most of what they faced as challenges or hardships were part of what God used to test them whether they would trust Him for all their needs. The LORD knows they needed all of these things which He created for their comfort. Matthew 6:31-33 says “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek, For your heavenly Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Therefore when we allow fear to grip us in any situation we find ourselves, it shows that we are not trusting God enough. We are behaving like the Gentiles who do not know God. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of sound mind and love. So we should not allow fear at all into our lives but to trust Him by believing that all things are working together for good for us. Faith is the opposite of fear, so our faith should be strong. The more we read the word of God the more our faith will grow stronger, and we will be able to withstand any challenges that come our way. Please stay on the word, and you will enjoy all the treasures hidden in it. God bless.
