Numbers161-7 reads “:Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—became insolent[a] and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?” When Moses heard this, he fell facedown. Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy, and he will have that person come near him. The man he chooses he will cause to come near him. You, Korah, and all your followers are to do this: Take censers and tomorrow put burning coals and incense in them before the Lord. The man the Lord chooses will be the one who is holy. You Levites have gone too far!”

Children of God, are we ever going to learn lessons from past mistakes? I cannot believe that people will rise up against Moses and Aaron when the leaders that went to spy the land of Cannan just died before the LORD because they rebelled against Moses and Aaron. Here again, Korah, a Levite, and two Reubenites Dathan and Abiram and 250 well-known community leaders gathered together against Moses and Aaron telling them they have gone beyond their boundary. They believe they are all chosen people and so they are holy, They did not tell us what Moses and Aaron did to warrant these attitudes. At least we were told that Aaron and Miriam were not happy that Moses married the Ethiopian woman, and this was their problem and God intervened and Miriam was afflicted with leprosy and kept outside the camp for a whole week. The whole congregation could not move forward until Miriam was restored back to the camp. This episode was to the knowledge of everyone. Why should there be another set of people rising against these two men? I would believe this is part of the works of the flesh. Pride, haughtiness or arrogance leads to destruction. The LORD will speak when they all appear before Him as Moses commanded them to do.

John 10:10 says “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” Satan is manipulating them to destroy them. It was Moses and Aaron that were called and God has been speaking through them to give all of the instructions. Why should they think more highly of themselves now at this stage?  What do they want to achieve with this opposition? Do they want to take over from Moses and Aaron? Was it not God who will choose whomever He wants to speak through? Unfortunately, the die is cast. They will appear before the LORD to hear His verdict. We will discuss that tomorrow, Human beings behave the same way. Rivalry exists between siblings, relations, and coworkers. This is why children of God need to be careful in allowing our flesh to dictate to us. We need to crucify the flesh so that the works of the flesh will not manifest in our lives. Romans 8:13 says ” For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die, but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” The consequences of this rebellion, as usual, led to the death of all involved. Therefore let all of us that are in Christ walk after the Spirit so as to please God. Shalom!
