Numbers 2:1-34- And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, “Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house, far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch. And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies, and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred. And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar, and. Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar–”
This instruction was given to Moses and the verses I have copied runs through the entire chapter arranging each family in the order He wanted them together with their captain according to their standard. Our God is so particular about the arrangement of each of these families all around the tabernacle of the congregation in an organized order which he alone understood, and everything was done according to “all that the LORD commanded Moses.” Psalm 103:7 says “He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel”. Reading the detailed instructions and the way Moses carried them out to the letter made me to understand the scripture above. Moses alone understood God because the LORD revealed Himself to him in a higher dimension. The children of Israel only witnessed miracles (power or act) of God and they were still rebellious, which goes to show that when you know the way of the LORD, you have more understanding of what to do to please Him. Isaiah 55:8 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” The world will be at peace, and families will be at peace if we all know how to do things according to His way like Moses. I am sure, what Moses did many times was to listen and obey without thinking it through (carnal mind). Moses had experienced success in all that God instructed him to do but the children of Israel were not patient enough like Moses to learn the way of the LORD from him.
Our cry to God today should be like the cry of David which says in Psalm 25:4-5 “Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day”. This is my prayer today and always that God would show me His way and teach me His paths. I do not want to do it my way anymore, I want it God’s way only. If you can join me in this prayer, and wait on Him, your life will never remain the same again. Just like Moses pleased the LORD all the days of his life and fulfilled his destiny, we too should aspire to know the way of the LORD so that we can be pleasing unto Him and then fulfill our destiny in Jesus’ Name, Amen. The Way of the LORD is the Way of Life. Shalom!
