Numbers 1: 1-end -” And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying: Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls; From 20 years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel, thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies. And with you, there shall be a man of every tribe, every one head of the house of his fathers. And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you, of the tribe of Reuben, Elizur, the son of Shedeur,——-” (1-5)
When I read through the Bible what amazes me most is the “ALL-KNOWING” nature of God. There were 12 tribes in Israel and they have grown to thousands per family as he promised Abraham that his descendants shall be as the sand of the seashore. Yet the LORD knows each one of them by name. He commanded Moses and Aaron to number each family, males that are 20 years old and above, and gave Moses the name of the leader of each family that will stand with Moses in this journey. This is the God that reigns in the affairs of all men. He chose males of a certain age in each family to be numbered, the younger and the women were not counted. At the end of the census, verse 45-46 says ” So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel; Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand, and three thousand, and five hundred and fifty (603,550).” The Levites were not numbered among them, as they have been assigned for the work of the LORD. The number of the children of Israel could double this number if children and women were counted along with them. What an awesome God. He is faithful to all His promises.
This reminds me that God knew me before my mother conceived me, and when I was brought forth He continued to monitor my steps without my knowledge of Him. All the sins I committed were known to Him. Now that I am aware of the Love of God who spared my life to this day, I am always full of gratitude to Him and be fearful of Him. I know He sees all I do, and I don’t want to do anything that will not be pleasing unto Him. Which point are you in your journey of life? Do you recognize that He loves you so much and that’s why He is still keeping you so that you can amend your ways and be right with Him? He knows your uprising and your downsitting and all that you do is naked before Him. That is enough to FEAR this God, and since we don’t know when our time will be up, this should make us live a sober life. Whatever you are going through, He is the only one that has control over that situation. Just trust Him and acknowledge His supremacy over all the affairs of your life, and in His time He will make all things beautiful for you. God bless.
