PENALTY FOR BREAKING LAWS
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I will set My face against that man and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech. ‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lord who sanctifies you. ‘For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.(Leviticus 20:1-9).
We read in the scripture above and in the remaining of the verses in chapter 20 that the penalty of all the sins that will be committed is death by stoning, Sacrificing to idols (Molech), practicing witchcraft, cursing parents, committing adultery with a woman, mating with animal or with a male as with a woman and the like is an abomination to God. His warning to them should be taken seriously because He separated them from other peoples so that they can be His. Since He is holy, everyone that is His must be holy. As he told their ancestors, He is also repeating it to them that they cannot afford to behave like them. As a matter of fact, they defiled the land by their evil practices which were the cause for their being vomited out, therefore they cannot afford to do likewise. Isaiah 52:11 says “Depart! Depart! Go out from there,
Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, Be clean You who bear the vessels of the Lord.” Just as He passed a continuous warning to the children of Israel to be clean and not to partake in any of these unholy practices, the same warning is applied to us that are witnessing ‘the last days”. Things have gone so bad that those who are called Christians cannot afford to be ensnared with the things of the world. What should make us do those things listed in the scripture of today? The idol that is rampant today is “Money” People go to any extent to look for money. They sacrifice human beings because of money. Many “Pastors” are not called by God but are in the business because of money. Many Christians have been lured into witchcraft or different occults because of “fame or power.” Why are we seeking things that will perish? We came empty handed and we will go back the same way. What should be important to us is our soul. Are we redeeming our time with the Lord? We need to examine ourselves. and turn from our evil ways while we still have our breath? Tomorrow is not guaranteed, therefore let us ask for His empowerment to make us clean and stay clean. The Bible says “With God, all things are possible”, though it might be difficult for man, it is not difficult for God. Phillippians 4:13 says I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” The men of old that surrendered themselves and waited on Him succeeded in their journey of life. We too can succeed if we follow His instructions on a daily basis.
Brothers and sisters, each day that comes and gone moves us nearer to the “Day of Jesus Return” His return will be like a thief in the night, so let us get ready. Take your eyes off those earthly things that are drawing you away from the Lord. Remember that none of them is worth dying for. May the Lord open our eyes to things of heaven where our treasures are secured so that we can be rich in things of heaven than the earthly things in Jesus Name, Amen. Remain blessed!!!
