Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,  “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God.  According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.  You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God.  You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.

‘None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the Lord.  The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.  The nakedness of your father’s wife you shall not uncover; it is your father’s nakedness.  The nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or elsewhere, their nakedness you shall not uncover.  The nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, their nakedness you shall not uncover; for theirs is your own nakedness.  The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, begotten by your father—she is your sister—you shall not uncover her nakedness.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is near of kin to your father.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is near of kin to your mother.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother. You shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law—she is your son’s wife—you shall not uncover her nakedness.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness.  You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, nor shall you take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness. They are near of kin to her. It is wickedness. Nor shall you take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while the other is alive. ‘Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is in her customary impurity.  Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, to defile yourself with her.  And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.  You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.  Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. (Leviticus 18:1-23).

Reading through the text above, I could feel what God had been dealing with from the creation of the world. In Genesis 6:5-6, the Bible says “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart” The wickedness of man made Him to destroy the world with flood and started again with Noah whom He found pious in that generation. From Noah’s descendants, He called Abraham and set Him aside to make Him a sample of what He wanted from man on the planet earth He had made. The earth had been corrupted so much that God wanted the children of Israel to live a separate and consecrated life. The practices of the inhabitants of the land that He is giving them had polluted the land and that was the reason why He wanted them eliminated completely. In order not to repeat what has been written above, you can agree with me that even up till today, many of these abominations are still being carried out in our society. We can now fully understand why we read from news daily of one tragedy after the other. The world is just going round  in cycles of one abomination after another, and the world is groaning in pain, because there seems to be no end in sight. The unfortunate part of the story is that God came down in human form (as our Lord Jesus Christ) in order to solve this problem for us and put us on the right track, but yet many of the Christians that have declared themselves to be His followers have also missed the mark. We have the Bible to read, and preachers to preach, yet they are so rebellious that they do not even think of what could happen when they stand before the throne of judgment.

Children of God, God of the children of Israel, that created the earth and the heavens, also created hell for Satan and his angels. He did not want man to perish, thus He came to show us the way. If we can truly allow the Spirit of God to indwell us, we will be empowered to run from sin and live according to the statutes and ordinances of God. It takes the Spirit of God in man to live a righteous life. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” We can be saved from this ordeal if we can return to God, give our lives to Jesus and allow Him to guide us through the journey of life. Though we cannot guarantee that life will be better than this, but what is sure is that God knows those that are His, He will save those who are able to persevere like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, Samuel, Esther, and others whose hearts are perfect towards Him. He is waiting for you and I to be OBEDIENT to His words so that we can reign with Him in the end. Don’t Disappoint Him. It is well with you all. AMEN.
