THE LAW OF TRESPASS OFFERIBG
‘Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering (it is most holy): In the place where they kill the burnt offering they shall kill the trespass offering. And its blood he shall sprinkle all around on the altar. And he shall offer from it all its fat. The fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails, the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; and the priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a trespass offering. Every male among the priests may eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy. The trespass offering is like the sin offering; there is one law for them both: the priest who makes atonement with it shall have it. And the priest who offers anyone’s burnt offering, that priest shall have for himself the skin of the burnt offering which he has offered. Also every grain offering that is baked in the oven and all that is prepared in the covered pan, or in a pan, shall be the priest’s who offers it. Every grain offering, whether mixed with oil or dry, shall belong to all the sons of Aaron, to one as much as the other.(Leviticus 7: 1-10).
Well if this is important to God that He separated sin offering from trespass offering, that means though they are all categorized as sin, but there is a name given to whatever we do that is not pleasing unto the Lord. When you trespass, it means you enter the owner’s land without permission or you make unfair claims on or take advantage of something, or commit an offense against a person. I remember that when filling taxes many people try to make claims that can reduce the amount of taxes owed, and most of the time, the claims are not genuine. There were some rules set up in my previous school where I used to teach together with my husband, the rule allows you to be considered for a big house if you have many children. People take advantage of this and declare as many children as possible so as to be qualified for such a place. Other situation can arise where you want some favors and you can go in the name of the person that they have regard for whereas you are doing it without his knowledge. These examples might not be as severe as committing murder, or stealing, but the Lord says it is considered as sin and it is treated thus. Therefore offering has to be made to God in the same way as any other offense and one will be forgiven. Looking back on many things I have done at work, I might have been committing a sin known as trespass whenever I use the copier for my own personal work without asking permission. I take it for granted that I am working there and nobody will challenge me what I am using the copier for. I ask the Lord for forgiveness now that the Lord is opening me up to this, and henceforth I will take permission before I use the copier for my personal work. Many things that we overlook are part of what God takes seriously. This is what it means to fear God, and do everything to reverence Him.
Let us examine ourselves and ask God to expose to us every area of our lives that we are found wanting, and then ask Holy Spirit to help us on a daily basis.to make amends. The Lord will answer our prayers in Jesus name, Amen, Be blessed!!!
