OFFERINGS WERE BROUGHT WILLINGLY

And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.  Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.   They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heart, and brought earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the Lord  And every man, with whom was found blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats’ hair, red skins of rams, and badger skins, brought them.   Everyone who offered an offering of silver or bronze brought the Lord’s offering. And everyone with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it. All the women who were gifted artisans spun yarn with their hands, and brought what they had spun, of blue, purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.   And all the women whose hearts stirred with wisdom spun yarn of goats’ hair. The rulers brought onyx stones, and the stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate,   and spices and oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.   The children of Israel brought a freewill offering to the Lord, all the men and women whose hearts were willing to bring material for all kinds of work which the Lord, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done (Exodus 35:20-29).

The children of Israel responded as the Lord led them. They donated cheerfully and those gifted artisans made materials with their hands and gave them to the Lord. Everything God commanded Moses to use to build the Tabernacle were contributed willingly by everyone whose hearts were stirred up by the Lord. There are some churches that God used the members that are gifted to build the building by using their God-given skills while others contributed money to buy the materials needed. What is more important to God is our hearts towards the work of God. If we have the means to do it, let us get it done with a willing heart.

Apart from physical building and contributing towards it, how are you and I involved in the building of the body of Christ? The body of Christ is represented by all the churches. What are we contributing willingly to enable the churches to be united as one? In our own locality, are we fostering the growth of the church by sacrificing our time willingly to unite the members together. Are we loving the unlovable because the Lord says so or are we sowing seeds of discord among members, seeds that can divide us instead of uniting us together. Are we using the time on our hands to pray for the sick, or to visit the old people? Are we taking care of the needy and the poor? Are we allowing our lights to shine before men so that they can see our good works and glorify our God in heaven? Are we using our gifts to benefit the body of Christ as a whole? Do we allow our flesh to be crucified so that we can live in the spirit and live for Christ alone? When we allow the works of flesh to manifest, we can not build the church according to the will of God. Therefore we must decide willingly to build the body of Christ so as to prepare it for Christ’s return. He must meet the body of Christ spotless and blameless. May the Lord uphold His body till the end in Jesus Name. Amen. Stay Blessed.
