CONSEQUENCES OF SIN

Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies), then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. And he said to them, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let every man put his sword on his side, and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and let every man kill his brother, every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.’ ”So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.  Then Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, that He may bestow on you a blessing this day, for every man has opposed his son and his brother.” Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin. So now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.”  Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold!  Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written.”  And the Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.  Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, My Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit for punishment, I will visit punishment upon them for their sin.” So the Lord plagued the people because of what they did with the calf which Aaron made.(Exodus 32:25-35).

The first punishment levied against the children of Israel was the death of about 3,000 men because of their sin. These were the people that participated in the gold calf, whose heart have strayed away from God their Deliverer. The consequences of sin is very grievous. God is a jealous God, you cannot give what belongs to Him to any one else. The children of Israel gave the glory that belongs to Him to a graven image. All the miracles that He performed in Egypt were given to the gold calf, that the calf was responsible for bringing them out of the land of their slavery. We thank God for His mercies over them otherwise they would have been wiped out. What we do today could be likened to the sin that the children of Israel committed. Many of us tend to forget God in our daily activities thinking that we are who we are by what we do, forgetting that it is God that made us and worked miracles in our lives to get us to where we are today. Psalm 100 says ” Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God;  It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;  We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good;  His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” We must never forget that our very existence depends on Him. We are created for a purpose and our hearts must be centered on Him. As I was writing this daily Wisdom, I received a message on my WhatsApp about a miracle that happened in my country Nigeria, and in the very town where I was born, which is Akure. The Lord performed a miracle through a young devout girl who believed in the Lord , attends Redeemed Christian Church in Akure, was always reading her bible (according to the write up), an apprentice of a fashion designer, prayed for a crippled man in the market of Erekesan and the crippled man got healed, he has been crippled for 42 years, so also two other people that were deaf were prayed for and they received their healing. Do we now see that the God that created the universe and everything in it has not changed. The miracles we are witnessing now are testimony to what God can do through whoever summits to His leading. The lady that God used is called Bose Isaac from Akoko division, very devout, and her pastor even told her that God would use her to do great work, and even recently somebody came to her shop and told her to read Psalms 19, and Isaiah 47 in water for 10 days and she would discover the will of God for her life. This miracle happened before the 10 days was over.

Let us put our trust in God no matter what we are going through. There is nothing impossible for Him to do. Sin is always the cog in our wheel and it can slow us down unless we repent and turn back to God.  I pray that the grace to run away from sin will be released to us so that we can enjoy the abundant life God has for us in Jesus Name. Amen. Stay Blessed.
