And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the Testimony were in his hand. The tablets were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.  Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.  And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” But he said: “It is not the noise of the shout of victory, Nor the noise of the cry of defeat, But the sound of singing I hear.”
So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. So Moses’ anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.  Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.  And Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”(Exodus 32:15-21).

Before Moses came down from the mountain, God  had informed him of what the people were doing in his absence. He even pleaded for mercy of God for them not to be destroyed . Now on returning from the mountain, joined by Joshua who had been waiting at the foot of the mountain, heard some noise from the camp. While Joshua thought it might be noise of war, Moses told him it was noise of rejoicing or singing. Seeing the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger became hot and then did the unexpected, he broke the tablets that had the writing of God at the foot of the mountain. What has this got to do with what the children of Israel were doing? He was at the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights to get this commandments written on the tablets of stone. See what anger does in one’s life. Anger destroys and we can see Moses’ reaction as a result of his anger. Anger is one letter short of danger, What a waste!!!. Anger if not controlled will control the carrier. It was the anger that he displayed when Egyptian and Israeli were fighting and he killed the Egyptian and buried him thinking that nobody saw him. This cost him 40 years of staying away from his family, before God called him out of Midian to go back to Egypt to lead his people out. Because of the risks that are associated with anger, one should commit it to prayer on a daily basis until one can feel the hand of God calming one down in every dangerous situation one finds oneself.

Anger is the work of the flesh and you can see what it did in the life of Moses. People around him recognized this problem in his life. His brother,, Aaron told him  “Do not let the anger of my lord be hot”  After breaking the tablets of stone, he took the calf and burned it and grounded it into powder and poured them into water for them to drink. For what purpose you may ask? Were they sick that that would make them well. All he did was the display of his anger on the children of Israel that sinned against God. Many people died in the process. Did God ask him to do this? Was it not his pleading that made God relent on his own plan to destroy them for what they did? Anger made him to forget all that plea and started to take actions that led to death of many of them. Well it was the work of Satan to destroy them, that was why he suggested the idea to them so that they can sin against God. When Moses stood in the gap by pleading and begging God not to do this, he uses another tactics, and that is anger that is in Moses.  Galatians 5:19-21 says “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath (ANGER), selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,  envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”  For us to be able to please God, we must overcome the works of flesh and we can do this by daily destroying this spirit of the flesh in us by the Fire of the Holy Ghost. None of us is free from this list, we need to watch our actions and feelings when somethings happen around us. God told Cain in Genesis “So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?  If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” (Genesis 4: 6-7)  My advise to every one reading this Daily Words of Wisdom today is to rule over the works of flesh in your life. Put it under subjection, do not let it rear its ugly head and cause you shame. With the help of Holy Spirit which you are asking for everyday, you will overcome it in Jesus Name, Amen. Be blessed.!!!.
