Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and tell him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.  For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold them,  behold, the hand of the Lord will be on your cattle in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the sheep—a very severe pestilence. And the Lord will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. So nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.” ’ ” Then the Lord appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.”  So the Lord did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died.  Then Pharaoh sent, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of the Israelites was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh became hard, and he did not let the people go.(Exodus 9:1-7).

So the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take for yourselves handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward the heavens in the sight of Pharaoh.  And it will become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” Then they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses scattered them toward heaven. And they caused boils that break out in sores on man and beast.  And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.  But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh; and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.(Exodus 9:8-12)

The LORD descended on their cattle and all other animals on the field with pestilence and they died and also visited them with boils on their bodies. Even then, Pharaoh did not let the children of Israel go.  Then the LORD sent Moses to tell Pharaoh that He would send the seventh plague which was Hail upon the field so that whatever did not die of pestilence will die of Hail. The LORD also told him that this was the purpose why He raised him up so that He could display His power in Him. He did exactly what He promised  “And the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt.  So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, so very heavy that there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.  And the hail struck throughout the whole land of Egypt, all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail struck every herb of the field and broke every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.”(Exodus 9:23-26).

We have seen how God can punish wicked people with different warfare weapons at His disposal. This was what He did to destroy the land of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sexual immorality. Some people out of their ignorance believe that Homosexuality is a lifestyle and that was how they were created. God says “I change not”  He is the same yesterday , today and forever more, and if He could not tolerate it in the life of Sodom and Gomorrah, why do they think He will change His mind now. Whatever we are doing that is totally against the will of God, we should ask the Holy Spirit to turn us away from such things. The Day of the LORD is approaching, the day when His judgment will be visited on the wicked. But if we are on the LORD’s side, we have nothing to fear. Malachi 4:1-3 says, “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.  And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch.  But to you who fear My name, The Sun of Righteousness shall arise, With healing in His wings; And you shall go out  And grow fat like stall-fed calves.  You shall trample the wicked,  For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the Lord of hosts.

This seventh plague was so much to bear because Pharaoh called Moses to inform him that “Indeed His God is righteous but he and his people are wicked, and God should have mercy on them by stopping the thunder and hail and fire, and he would let them go. Moses prayed to the Lord as usual, and when everything returned to normal, Pharaoh sinned again by refusing to let them go. Pharaoh would never learn. Those that are destined for destruction never see the right of the way. One Nigerian Proverb says ” the dog that would get lost would never hear the hunter’s whistle”. Did not God demonstrate His power enough for him to know that the children of Israel are the people of God and that God was demanding their release, who is he to hold them back? Well he was created for destruction and we have three more to go for his cup to be full and overflow. Therefore my advise is that we should look at ourselves, when people are seeing things in the way we are not seeing it, and they are telling us that what we are doing is not right, we need to trace back our steps instead of continuing in the same direction. We then ask for help from the Holy Spirit who will instruct us and guide us in the right way.  God uses people to correct us. The LORD will perfect everything that concerns us in Jesus name, Amen. Remain Blessed!!!
