Then the Lord spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’ ”  So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt. (Exodus 8:5-7).

So the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, so that it may become   lice throughout all the land of Egypt.’ ”  And they did so. For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and struck the dust of the earth, and it became lice on man and beast. All the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.  Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had said. (Exodus 8:16-19).

After the LORD restored their water to them, He embarked upon the second plague which was frogs all over Egypt. His magicians could replicate this, and when they entreated the LORD to remove them, He did and because Pharaoh would not yet release the children of Israel, He sent the third plague in form of lice. This third plague could not be replicated by the magicians, they now realized that “It is the finger of God” that has been fighting them. Power surely passes power. Unfortunately even this statement to Pharaoh did not move him, because he was created for destruction. His heart was hardened by God so that God would perform all that He had purposed to do in Egypt to punish them for the way they treated His children. Romans 12:19 says “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. This scripture and the way God was dealing with the Egyptians should be enough to teach us that we should not avenge ourselves. It does not matter what anybody did to us, we should just hand it over to God who is able to appropriate the right punishment that could be given. The children of Israel had no power to do all that God was doing with the Egyptians. Yet he had not finished with them. When He revealed to Abraham in Genesis, that his children would be in a foreign land and they would be maltreated but He would punish that foreign nation, and the people will be released and would  plunder the people of their wealth , Abraham could not even imagine the extent of what God was about to do. Though at this time, Abraham was still childless, and His promises for Abraham was that his descendants would be as numerous as the sand of the sea. Abraham believed God and it was counted for him as righteousness. Everything He promised Abraham came to pass. The blessing of Abraham is ours today. We should remember that He raised Abraham so that the whole world might be saved through him. So we should see ourselves as descendants of Abraham, and all the promises He made with Abraham are ours to claim. Whosoever blesses us will be blessed and whosoever curses us will be cursed, and God will avenge for us. He says that the enemy might come to us like a flood, but He says He would raise a standard against them. Do you know what His standard is? When you look at the way He is dealing with the Egyptians, you will have a glimpse into what His standard is.

Therefore brothers and sisters, we should not walk contrary to God’s commandments if we want to be friends of God.  And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” James 2:23.  Also James 4:4 says, ” Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.’  Jesus also says “.You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.  No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you (John 15:14-15).    Psalm 68:1 says “Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him”

Therefore if we want God’s favor, blessings and mercy of God, we have to be His friend by continuously obeying His commandments. We cannot afford to be His enemy because nobody can withstand His wrath. I pray today that the Spirit of God will fill us up and help us to remain in Him, and help us to be obedient to His will in Jesus Name, Amen. Remain Blessed!!!
