GOD DIALOGUES WITH MOSES
Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’ Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt; and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’ Then they will heed your voice; and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has met with us; and now, please, let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’ But I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not even by a mighty hand. So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in its midst; and after that he will let you go. And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed. But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely, of her who dwells near her house, articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.” (Exodus 3:13-22).
The dialogue between Moses and God brought out some important names about God. God told him His name is “I AM WHO I AM” That is, God is ever present. He is the God of their forefathers and also their God. He never changes. He is our God too. Even those that do not acknowledge Him now, will bow down before Him at His appearing, because He is God of the whole universe. He also gave Moses details of what he had to do. He made it known to him, that Pharaoh will not let them go, but He would use FORCE to set the people of Israel free. He would also give them favor with the Egyptians so as to spoil them when they are released eventually. The force that God would use will prove to the whole world the POWER OF HIS MIGHT. He would do all this to let them know that He is God and that it is not good to do wickedness. The children of Israel would realize from all that He would do that God is to be feared and appreciated for choosing them among all the people on the earth.
From the passage above, we too that have given our lives to Christ should thank God for making us His own . John 1:12-13 says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Since we have received Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we have become His children by the special grace in Jesus Christ. We are also highly favored just like the children of Israel, and we are now made as priests and kings for Him, and should enjoy all the rights (grace, mercy, favor, blessings-financial, spiritual and physical) afforded the Israelites. Praise God for counting us worthy to be named among His own. Please exercise your rights as much as possible letting the devil know where you belong and putting him under your feet, so that he does not harass you or torture you that you don’t belong. If you have not given your life to Christ, this is the time to do it because He is coming back soon to take His own. Do it NOW so that you are not left behind at the day of His appearing. May the Lord continue to encourage us in His Word, and make us to be more confident to carry out the assignment He has for us. May the Grace of God be multiplied in us in Jesus Name, Amen.
