REFLECTING ON GOD’S GOODNESS
Today is the last day of February 2019. We have spent fifty -nine days in 2019 already and God made it possible for you and I to be alive today so our God deserves all the glory and honor for His faithfulness and love for all of us. The Psalmist says “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, And the great King above all gods. in His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand. (Psalm 95:1-9)
As we have been walking through the Bible this year, we were able to see the mighty hand of God in all that He created. We saw Him moving in the lives of His chosen people and how He distinguished them from the other people that did not know Him. These other nations were serving their self-made gods and also performing atrocities that were totally an abomination to God. That was the purpose of choosing Abraham and his descendants to be a witness to Him. The psalmist is a descendant of Abraham and is calling upon all of us to come together and worship the God that created the entire universe. Just as the Psalmist says, we need to sing joyfully to Him telling Him that we appreciate all that He has been doing for us. He formed the dry land for us to live in, different kinds of food for us to enjoy, animals on the field, fishes in the sea, and fowls in the air for us. He sends rain, sun and different seasons for us to have comfort. He is our God, our Maker, and we are the sheep of His pasture. We should come before Him everyday to thank Him for all these blessings which we are all enjoying by His special Grace as He promised that through Abraham, the whole world will be blessed.
We should be grateful to Him for being our Refuge and our mighty Fortress.. From the beginning of the year up till today, the last day of the second month, there was no day without terrible things happening from one city to the other. So many lives have been lost, both young and old, whether in accident or in shootings. We that are alive are saved by Grace. That is why we need to be thankful to Him because we are not better than those that are gone. We also need to thank God for answering our prayers. We prayed for peace to reign in Nigeria, during the past election, and the LORD took total control, and allowed them to declare the winner without rioting, looting or burning of houses as aftermath of the election. To God be the glory. Even in our individual lives, we have every cause to be grateful to God for His intervention in all our endeavors. That is why one needs to pause and reflect on God’s goodness and let Him know that He is the ONE that holds the pillar of our lives, and we appreciate Him for that. Also for overlooking our sins and having better things in store for us, we are very grateful to Him for this. He says that “No weapon formed against us shall ever prosper, and No sickness will come near our dwelling places, None of us shall be barren, or miscarry, and the number of our days we shall fulfill”. He has been faithful to His promises. So we are grateful to You our God for this opportunity to pause and thank You for all You did in our lives for the past two months and all that You will do for us in the new month ahead. May Your Name be praised for ever and ever, AMEN.
