JOSEPH IN THE LAND OF EGYPT.

The story of Joseph in Egypt began in the  Potiphar’s house. Genesis 39 reads, “And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake, and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he knew not ought he had, save, the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favored. (Genesis 39:2-6).

Here is a seventeen year old boy sold as a slave to the officer of Pharaoh, and in his house the presence of God was manifested because of Joseph. Joseph became an ark of covenant that blessed the house of Potiphar just like Laban’s house was blessed because of Jacob. The part of Abraham’s blessing that promised to bless the whole earth through him was being displayed in the life of Joseph as it happened in the life of Jacob. Whatever part of the world they went to, and whosoever they touched, these people shared in their blessing. The fact that Laban was blessed because of Jacob and Potiphar was blessed because of Joseph, that means that you and I are blessed because of our relationship with Christ. We that are in Christ Jesus are blessed because He said it in John 10:10 “that I have come so that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  In Isaiah 45, he called a heathen king (Cyrus) his anointed, and said in verses 3-4 “And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name Am the God of Israel.  For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other”,  This scripture confirms the promise He made to Abraham that through him all the people of the earth will be blessed. He says in the scripture above that Cyrus will be blessed because of Jacob’s sake.

Thus if it worked for every one mentioned above it will work for you and for me too. Let us continue to adhere to the advice in Joshua 1:8 that commands us to spend quality time on the word of God, and meditate on it day and night, because that’s where our prosperity lies. The word of God says in Isaiah 48:17 “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer; the Holy One of Israel, “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.” Therefore let this be our prayer this year that the LORD will teach us and lead us in the way we should go, so that all our blessings will be released unto us. As we seek the LORD more this year, all our hidden riches will be made available to us in Jesus name, Amen. Remain blessed.
