Isaac had blessed Jacob and Esau was really angry about how Jacob took the blessing that belonged to him.  He tried again to press further to receive blessing from his father. Genesis 27:35-46 reads “And he said, Thy brother came with subtility, and hath taken away thy blessing. And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times; he took away my birthright , and,  behold,  now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? And Isaac answered and said unto Esau,   Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants, and with corn and wine have I sustained him; and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing my father? bless me, even me also, O my father.  And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above. And by thy sword shall thou live, and shalt serve thy brother and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck. And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him , and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand, then will I slay my brother Jacob. And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah and she sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and said unto him, Behold thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice, and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran. And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away

The anger of Esau toward Jacob was natural in the sense that it takes the  grace of God to forgive a brother that took what belongs to you twice. It is always painful when someone you know or a relation of yours hurt you in something that affects your destiny. Esau wept bitterly and the blessing that came to him was that of a servant to his brother. It was very painful and that pain turned to hatred and that made him determined within his heart that he would kill his brother.. This is what sin does in human life. Thank God that he was able to reveal his thoughts to somebody that brought it to the attention of Rebekah before it was too late. Again we can see the hand of God even in this revelation of Esau’s thoughts because Jacob had to separate from Esau for the blessing of God to manifest. God always desires a separation for people that He earmarked for greatness,. Abraham was separated from his family, Isaac was separated from Ishmael, and now  Jacob needed to be separated from Esau. Rebekah took the best option which was for Jacob to go to his uncle, Laban in Haran, and dwell there for few days while Esau’s anger cooled off. The role of mothers in the life of their children can not be overemphasized. Rebekah was able to find an excuse for Jacob to go to Haran, because he was not yet married like his brother. The wives of Esau were already a pain in the neck of Rebekah and Isaac, and Isaac gladly supported Rebekah’s suggestion for Jacob to move to Haran to get a wife.

The plan of God that Jacob would be the one to inherit the blessings of Abraham could not be aborted by Esau. If you have received a prophecy through a servant of God, please hold on to it, and be sensitive to God’s leading. Rebekah received the prophecy, and she did everything she could to help Jacob obtain the blessing. In two instances she took a very fast step to intervene so that the promise of God would be manifested in Jacob’s life. In our own case, we mothers should put our children’s destiny or future into prayers at all times, so that we can be led constantly by the Holy Spirit to help our children. The Bible says that God will teach our children and great shall be their peace. The peace of God will be multiplied in your life and your children’s lives in Jesus name, Amen.
