ABRAHAM’S OTHER CHILDREN

Though in chapter 24, we were told that Abraham was old and well stricken in age, and then he sent his servant to Mesopotamia to get a wife for Isaac, then in chapter 25, we were then informed that Abraham took a wife whose name was Keturah. She bore him six children, but Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. But unto the sons of the concubines Abraham gave gifts and sent them away from Isaac his son. The psalm that came to mind as I read this passage was psalm 92 :12-15 which reads thus, “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bring forth fruit in old age, they shall be fat and flourishing. To shew that the LORD is upright, he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”  What a confirmation of the word of God in the life of Abraham. It is a pointer to us reading the life history of Abraham that the delay in bringing Isaac to Abraham through Sarah was deliberate on the path of God to teach Abraham and also us to learn to trust Him and walk with Him with endurance and patience. When you remember that God is the one in control of your life,, then it is good to learn to “be still and know that He is God”.

After the death of Sarah and while Isaac was also married to Rebekah, Abraham was still active enough to have six children with another woman, even in his old age, Therefore God’s promise is that the righteous will flourish like the palm tree, and if you are walking with God as Abraham did, you will never lack any good thing in Jesus Name. Whatever you desire, don’t let your age be a barrier please go for it. Do not think that you are already too old for you to start a business that God is putting into your heart, or going to a school to better your life and that of your family, or changing a career, your faith and believe in yourself that you can do all things through Christ our Lord is the key to your greatness. If that desire came to you, it is from the Lord. Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God that works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. God wants you to dream big and not limit yourself. With God on your side, you can attain the highest peak that is attainable in your career.  If Peter did not step into the waters, he would not know that he could walk on water. If Abraham was satisfied with Isaac, or if he considered himself too old, he would not have been involved with another woman., and he would not have known there were other children that could be born to him.

Therefore brothers and sisters, launch your net today and have a big catch. The LORD is waiting for you to confirm what He alone can do in your life and that is to make you flourish spiritually, physically, and financially. This year you will testify to the goodness of God in the land of the living in Jesus Name, Amen.  May the grace of God be multiplied in our lives in Jesus Name, Amen.
