DOUBTING THE BLESSING OF GOD
We are going to be looking at the miraculous blessing from God today but unfortunately one man doubted this miracle and the result was as predicted by the man of God. Let us go into the Scriptures and see the story from 2 Kings 7:1-17 which reads thus “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD, Thus saith the LORD, Tomorrow, about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shall see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.” The bible tells us there was a great famine in Samaria because the king of Syria besieged it until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver. The situation was so serious that two women agreed to kill their sons to eat because there was nothing to eat. The king of Israel now sent to prophet Elisha concerning the situation in Israel. It was like you are here, and all these terrible things are happening to us. Then Elisha prophesied that there would be a change by this time tomorrow, but the lord on whose hand the king leaned did not believe this could happen.
According to the prophecy, the second day, the four lepers who were at the entering in of the gate made a decision to enter into the camp of the Syrians because they knew that the famine would kill them whichever way, if they stayed in that position, or they went into the city, or enter into the camp of the enemy. Entering into the camp of the enemy, they found no one there. Verses 6-9 says “For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host, and they said one to another, Lo the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of Hittites, the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight , and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was. , and fled for their life. And when the lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent and did eat and drink and carried thence silver and gold, and raiment and went and hid it and came again and carried more and hid it. Then they told one another, We do not well, this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace, now therefore come and let us inform the king’s household.’ This they did, and the matter was investigated and found to be true. The king appointed the man on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate. The people went out and spoiled the tents of the Syrians, so a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel according to the word of the LORD. The people trode upon the man in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said. This was the man that doubted God when the man of God prophesied.
This was the fate of the man that did not believe that God can open the windows of heaven and bless his people. The man of God prophesied and God performed miracle by creating fear in the host of Syrians and they heard noises of chariots and horses, and a great army, and they fled from their camp leaving everything they brought there behind. The Lord used lepers to discover this and made it known to the king’s household. The famine of many years caused by the enemy ended in one day. The situation that made the women to eat their son came to an abrupt end. What was scarce the day before became surplus the second day. God is able to turn any situation around any minute. What made the lord on whose hand the king leaned doubt God? Had he never experienced the wonder working power of God? If he had heard all that God had done to his ancestors in the past, was that not enough to believe that God can solve any problem? This is a lesson for us that when we see a true man of God, we should believe that God speaks through him. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says, “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established, believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” Isaiah 44:26. says.”He confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers…” So brothers and sisters do not doubt the word of God that have been spoken into your life. Even the bible you read, you should not doubt the promises written therein, they are words of life and when you believe it you shall see the manifestation. Any one that doubts God cannot receive anything from God.
I decree upon your life as you are rounding up year 2018, and entering into year 2019, everything you have been waiting on the Lord for shall suddenly manifest in your life and you will glorify God for his faithfulness. in Jesus Name, Amen. God of Elijah will make your way prosperous in this last month of the year 2018 and it will continue with you in 2019 in Jesus Name, Amen. Shalom!!!
