BLESSINGS FROM GOD
The reason why we are discussing more of these blessings that are recorded in the Bible is for us to know that it does not matter what is going on around us, the God of the universe has not changed. The bible calls him, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, but you also can call him God of ‘your “name”, because God is God of the whole universe. This God wants every one of us to know him and personalize him as “my God”. What he does in your life is a proof of who He is to you and what He can be to whosoever comes to Him. The different miracles He performs are for people to know and believe that there is None Beside Him, He is the Only God.
Let us go into the scriptures and see the blessing of God upon a woman who had already giving herself up concerning the fruit of the womb. 2 kings 4:8-17.reads, “And if fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman, and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall, and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick, and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber. and lay there. And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunamite, And when he had called her, she stood before him. And he said unto him, say unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all these care, what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered , Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my Lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.”
We saw a man of God, Elijah with his servant Gehazi, that were cared for continually by a woman living in Shunem. The man of God on his ministerial job passed through this city and the woman of God took it upon herself to meet his needs because she recognized him as an holy man of God. She went further to prepare a small chamber to make them comfortable as they commuted to and fro on this journey. Before we go further, we can learn a great lesson here, that this woman did the work of God with every fiber in her being, without any bitterness concerning her condition. She had given up asking God for a child but determined to do whatever God wanted her to do for his kingdom. She had a good heart and she loved the LORD and was happy working for God whether she was blessed with a child or not. Some people with “need” give up on God by not coming to church, or participating in any activity that will lift up the name of God. They will vent their anger on any one that comes near them for any kind of help. The different stories that are recorded in the bible are stories that proclaim the mighty power of God and the reason why he allows certain things to happen the way they do is beyond our understanding. But one thing is certain God loves us all and He created each us for his glory.
The woman allowed herself to be used by God, to meet the needs of his prophet and the Lord rewarded her by the gift of a son she wanted for years and never came. The prophet was moved by her care of him to prophesy to her life. The only need of this woman was a child, because she was blessed materially, she had husband and both were serving the Lord. This means that whatever we do for God will never go unrewarded. The Lord knows our needs but meet our needs at his own appointed time. Your own need might not be fruit of the womb, but whatever it is the Lord is Jehovah Jireh and he will meet you at the point of your needs. Just continue to serve him with all your heart and mind and soul, and Exodus 23:25-26 which says, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren in thy land; the .number of thy days I will fulfill.” shall be your portion in Jesus name, Amen. You will live to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You shall not die but live to declare the glory of the LORD in the land of the living in Jesus Name. Amen. It is well with your soul. Amen.
