Galatians 3:29..And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Genesis 12:1-3 gave us account of the blessings bestowed upon Abraham which reads thus “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” The natural descendants of Abraham which are called Israelites are blessed according to this promise. These blessings follow them wherever they go. The LORD fights their battle for them and the LOVE of God toward them knows no measure as long as they keep their own side of the covenant just as Abraham kept his own..
Paul in his writings to the Galatians, (being made the Apostle to the Gentiles), reiterated the fact that since he has preached Christ to us and we have accepted Jesus Christ as our LORD and SAVIOR, then we belong to the lineage of Abraham by our spiritual birth , and we automatically inherit all the blessings that are being enjoyed by the natural descendants of Abraham according to the promise. Since God never changes, so also His promises are eternal. However Moses in his writings declared in Deuteronomy 28, the conditions of these blessings and the consequences of not abiding by the laid down rules. Let us read some of them : “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shalt be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. ,,,..The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face, they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways…” The blessings of Abraham is comprehensive, and a sure piece of mind in all areas of life. When you buy a car, you obtain comprehensive insurance to give you some security. Your security depends on your road worthiness. If you are a careless driver, you will have a high premium to pay though you have comprehensive coverage. The only way to enjoy the coverage is for you to be careful while driving, and do not have “at-fault accident”. In like manner, you are assured of all the blessings listed in Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 as long as you hearken diligently to the voice of the LORD thy God.
Brothers ans sisters, because you are followers of Christ, you are supposed to lay claim to all these blessings, and at the same time, be obedient to his commandments and statutes. If you are for Christ’s and not enjoying the blessings as promised, then ask God to reveal to you what went wrong, and He will shew you the areas of your life that you need to amend, or sins to repent of, or areas of your life that devil is laying hold on. This is why Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew unto thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.” He will reveal to you the cause, may be through another servant of God, or dream, or his Word or any other means He seems fit. Once these areas are addressed, you will start to enjoy the unbroken relationship between yourself and God and all the blessings will follow you and overtake. you. All the churches of today need to pray more for God to reveal to us what areas of our lives as members of the body of Christ that are found wanting, because this could hinder God’s flow of blessings unto his congregation. Families that are followers of Christ and are not fully enjoying the blessings of God, should also come together and seek the LORD’s face because the LORD blesses families, examples Cornelius and his house, Obed-Edom and his house, Abraham and Lot, Laban and Jacob.
As long as we are Christ’s, we are the seed of Abraham, and heirs according to the .promise, God is faithful and He will fulfill all that has been written for us in Jesus name. The blessings of God will flow upon us and make us head and lift us up beyond our expectations in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
Prayer ,, LORD I am standing on your promises, plant my feet on a higher ground where your Name will be magnified in Jesus Name, Amen.
