Psalm 34:19..Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all
Our God deserves our praises and our thanksgiving for His compassion on the sons of men. The psalmist began this psalm by saying “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him and were lightened and their face were not ashamed. This poor man cried and the LORD heard him out of all his troubles. . The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good , blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD ye His saints, for there is no want to them that fear him, The young lion do lack , and suffer hunger, but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. Come ye children, hearken unto me, I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil , and do good, seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous , and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry , and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones, not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked, and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants, and none of them that trusts in him shall be desolate.”
This psalm ministered to my spirit and I felt that I should write the entire psalm for you to meditate on the precious words and be blessed by them. The psalm is full of praises for what God has done in the life of the writer and that is David. I believe the LORD had done a lot in your life as he has done in mine too, and so we join David to praise Him not only today but at all times and his praise shall continue to be in our mouth. We will praise him as long as we have our breath because of his goodness and his mercies over us all. Without repeating all that are written in this psalm, I will point out four things that this psalmist says about our God that makes us to fear him the more. The first one is that He HEARS the CRY of the righteous and delivers them from all their troubles. The second one is that He is against them that do evil, and He will reward them with evil and cut off the remembrance of them. The third one is that He is very near those who are hurting and those who have broken heart and contrite spirit and will comfort them and restore them. The fourth is that He sends His angels to surround his righteous, and supplies all their needs., He takes personal interest in the righteous people.
The Psalmist therefore advises us to be righteous so as to continue to enjoy the goodness of God and live long. He says we should watch our tongue that is our tongue should be used to bless and not to curse, We must do good, because our God is a good God, all He does is good, and we must be like Him. We must seek peace and pursue it. That is, even if the person does not show love to us, we must still do every thing in our power to show that we love him with the love of God. That is what can make us win the approval of God that we are His people indeed. David demonstrated this behavior which actually confirmed that he was a man after God’s heart. King Saul pursued David from pillar to post, from one cave to another cave, and from one jungle to another one, despite the fact that David did not offend him or look for his downfall.. On two occasions, David had the opportunity to kill Saul, yet he didn’t because he said he will not kill the anointed man of God. He made Saul to realize that the LORD gave him (Saul) into his hand, but to prove to him that he had nothing against him, he spared his life and committed him to the hand of God. Saul later declared that David was a righteous one and would be the next king after him. This is how to seek peace and pursue it.
Therefore brothers and sisters, meditate on this psalm, let the word of God permeate your spirit being and rejoice in the LORD, do good, seek peace, pursue it, watch what you say and trust God with your life. Even if you are going through some challenging situations now, trust God that He will deliver you from all of your afflictions and you will praise him because He hears the cry of His people. He will not leave you comfortless. It is well with you.in Jesus name, Amen. .
