Matthew 12:35-37…A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Words are very powerful and the words we speak go a long way to shape or mar one’s destiny. Our God that created the heavens and the earth  spoke to bring into existence what were not as if they were. Genesis 1;2 says “Then God said, Let there be light”, and there was light.”  In the book of Matthew, it was recorded that a centurion came to Jesus, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented. And Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof, but only speak a word, and my servant will be healed…Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go your way, and as you have believed, so let it be done for you. And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8: 5-12).  Psalms 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destruction.” These are just a few examples of the importance of words and the part they have played from the foundation of the world up till now. When God was to test the power of words in the life of the first man He created, He brought all the beasts of the field, the birds of the air to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature , that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field.” (Genesis 2:19-20). So we can see the power in the word we speak. God gave us the power to speak and every word we speak has its foundation from the heart. So our heart is the reservoir from where words are formulated before they come out of our mouth. This is why the Bible says we should guard our heart so that the words we speak would be seasoned with grace and produce good fruits.

In the case of the different healing that men and women received, the faith they had in God came from their believe in God who is able to do what they are asking Him to do. For example,  a woman with issue of blood thought in her heart if she could just touch the hem of the Master’s garment she would be made whole, which she did and she was made whole. So out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The Bible says “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man.  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, theft, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man..” (Matthew 15:18-20). Therefore a good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil  things. From what a man speaks, one can know whether the man is a good man or an evil man. According to the scripture of today, words coming from our mouth are being recorded, and would be used to judge us at the end. So for us to make it at the end, we need to start renewing our heart with the word of God, because man has an evil heart, therefore it is the word of God that can circumcise our heart and make it pure. So much damage has been done to the heart of men which has made sin to reign in our mortal bodies. It takes only the blood of Jesus to wash away all the debris in our heart so as to make us as white as snow.

Remember the twelve leaders that were sent to the land of Canaan to spy the land, ten came back with evil report, while two came with good report (Numbers 13-14). Those with evil report said that the men of the land were giants while they looked like grasshoppers in comparison to them. The LORD judged them by this report of theirs. Numbers 14:28-30 says “As truly as I live ,saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you. Your carcases shall fall in the wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me. Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I swear to make you dwell therein save (except) Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, the son of Nun (the two men with good report)” It is with the heart that man believes and with mouth confession is made (Romans 10:9-10). Their heart did not believe that God could take them there and hence their mouth gave evil report.

What do you spend your time on? Or what do you feed your mind with? If you make it your priority to allow the word of God to dwell in you richly, the word that will be coming out of you will be positive words that will build up people’s faith, encourage and edify people of God. These words will help to guide you in the right direction. You will be able to believe that you can speak the word of God to your situation, and you will see positive results. Therefore you have a job to do especially that you are reading the daily words of wisdom with me, we can both focus on the word of God that can transform our lives so that we will be the doer of the word and not hearers only. Psalm 119:11, says “thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you. The LORD will give us  the grace to guard our heart with the word of God which will help us to fulfill our destiny. It is well with all of us in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer…Lord give me the grace to keep my heart and mind on you so that I can succeed in this journey of Faith in Jesus name, Amen. .
