Exodus 23:25-27..And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young , nor be barren in thy land, the number of thy days, I will fulfill . I will send my fear before thee , and will destroy all the people to whom  thou shall come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs onto thee

This promise was given to the children of Israel during the time Moses led them out of Egypt through the wilderness. .God demonstrated  his love for them as they were his chosen people. Through Moses, God afflicted the Egyptians with ten different plagues because the king of Egypt was reluctant to release them to  go  and worship their God. After the tenth plague that killed every first born of the Egyptians, Pharaoh authorized their release. God showed through so many other ways that they were a chosen generation, and that if they will obey Him, He will continue to keep them safe, and that no evil will befall them. The scripture of today was one of those promises that He gave to them. He told them that their duty was to serve Him because they were created for this purpose.

Psalm 100:1-5 says, Make a joyful noise unto the LORD all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness, come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD, he is God. It is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves, we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise, be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endureth to all generations.” The message is not for the children of Israel alone, it is for every nation and every people that recognizes God as the Creator. It is not possible for anyone to make himself, and since we are all made by God, our duty as man is to do His will. He created everything for our comfort, and gave us dominion over all other creatures that He created. That is why the Psalmist says we should serve Him with gladness and grateful heart. When we do this, the scripture tells us there are blessings attached to serving Him.

The first blessing is that we will always have bread to eat and water to drink. That is, we will be fed physically because He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. He created us and He knows what our body needs, and His promise is that He will supply ALL that is needed for healthy growth of the body. His second promise in this verse is that He will take sickness away from us. The first time this scripture was introduced to me was when a man of God came to pray for me while I was sick. Since then I had laid claim on the words of this scripture and it has worked for me. He says that we  will live in good health, and if there is any sickness in our body, we will remind Him of His word, especially when we are serving God in any capacity God has placed us. As long as the sickness has a name, we will command the sickness to leave in the name of Jesus, and it will go. The Bible says, “at the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee must bow, both in heaven, and on earth”. You need to have Faith in the word of God. We are all servants of God, and we should understand that the scripture is the “breath of God”, they were written for us to apply them to ourselves. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”

The third promise in the scripture of today is that we will not lose our younger ones, that is they will not die before us. This is always our prayer to God to help our children to be safe from all the evil of the world. We need to commit our children to God all the time, while we parents also guide them in the way they should go, so that they do not fall prey to the wicked ones. Our children need us to lay good examples for them and also educate them about brevity of life and the need to abide by the rules and regulations that God handed to us for our safety. The devil is a roaring lion, and everyday, he seeks whom he will devour, but because we dwell under the shadow of the Almighty, we are shielded from all the arrows of the wicked ones. God is our Refuge and Mighty Fortress. Amen. The other promise in this scripture reveals to us that His promise in Genesis 1:28 that says “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth” is for everyone to lay claim to. Whatever our situation is concerning not having our children as at the time we got married, we have examples to relate to and comfort ourselves that God is the TIMEKEEPER that has everything under His control. At the time He has scheduled, He will make it happen, because none of His children shall be barren or miscarry in the land God has given to us. It does not matter how long it takes, God is faithful to His word.

You can bank on His word, but you must not lose focus, and must continue to serve Him. A good example is  Priest Zacharias and his wife Elisabeth who was barren even up to her old age. The Angel of the LORD appeared unto him while he was discharging his duty as the priest of the LORD, and prophesy that his wife will have a baby boy and His name will be called John. (Luke1:11-14).  The only woman that was barren in the Bible was Michal the daughter of king Saul that got married to David. The Bible says “As the Ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death. (2 Samuel 6:16 & 23). Michal was not happy that David was rejoicing before the LORD. So we need to understand that rejoicing in the presence of the LORD is a key to our getting blessed. No matter what we are going through, let us come before the LORD rejoicing and praising Him with all our heart, mind and soul.

The last of this scripture promised us that our enemies will turn their back on us, that is, we will be the one to pursue them and conquer them, and no one will be able to harm us. Also, the number of our days we will fulfill because he will keep us to the end. Therefore, beloved, let us serve the Lord with gladness of heart. Whatever position you are in, you may be a clerk,  janitor, cleaner, teacher, driver, director, secretary, mother, father, let us do it unto the LORD, and the LORD will reward us beyond our imagination in Jesus Name. It is well with you.

Prayer…LORD I commit myself unto you, and I ask for the grace to be useful to you in every area of my life. Make me a vessel of honor in your hand in Jesus Name, Amen.
