Exodus 13:21-22 …And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night. He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
When the LORD called Abraham to get out of his country, from his kindred, and from his father’s house to a land he would show him, he pronounced blessings upon him and his seed forever, The children of Israel are the descendants of Abraham that God allowed to be in Egypt during the time of Joseph that was sold as a slave to an Egyptian. When they had multiplied and became mighty, the king of Egypt who did not know Joseph started to ill-treat them, and even killed their male children. So the people cried out to the LORD, and the LORD remembered his covenant with Abraham, and sent Moses to bring them out and lead them to their promised land. With a powerful and outstretched hand the LORD performed great miracles in the land of Egypt to show the Egyptian that these people are special people to Him. For 430 years they have lived in Egypt by His permissive will and it was now time to settle them down in the land He had promised Abraham. The Bible tells us that the number of people that left Egypt was about 600,000 and the LORD led them through the wilderness with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to give them light during the night. The LORD was faithful to His promise throughout their journey and never took these pillars from them even when they revolted against Him.
The journey of the children of Israel was an interesting one that revealed to us readers who believe in Jesus Christ that our journey in life could be likened to their journey to their promised land. They were led by the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, but they were faced with some difficulties on their way. Enemies came in pursuit of them, and the LORD opened the red sea for them to walk through on dry ground while their enemies drowned in the red sea. They walked three days without water and the water they eventually found was bitter, and the LORD showed them a tree to put into the water to make it fit for drinking. When there was no food, He rained manna from heaven for them to eat. Remember these children of the Most High God were being led by God Himself. Therefore every believer should know that in this journey of life until we reach our destination, we should be doubly certain that our God is faithful and He will lead us day and night. There will be some difficulties on the way, but notwithstanding God is with us through those circumstances, and He will meet us at the point of our needs. That is His promise, He will never fall back on His promises. But we should learn to trust him no matter what we are going through. Those who have succeeded in their journey of life learned to trust Him absolutely. We learned from Abraham that it was good to wait on the LORD, because he too waited for a son which came when he was 100 years old.
I am using this medium to appeal to you to allow the LORD to lead you as He led the children of Israel through their journey. This is a new month, let us dedicate this month to walking with Him day by day, spending time in His word and waiting.for His direction. Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go, I will guide you with mine eye.” This will be our portion this month as we wait on the LORD to receive new direction either in our secular job or in our ministerial assignment, or in any area where we are seeking the LORD’s counsel. The LORD will perfect everything that concerns us this month and this year in Jesus Name, Amen.
Prayer…We pray for more of you, LORD, in our lives so that we can live a victorious life in Jesus Name, Amen.
