Luke 4:18, 19, 21…The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Yesterday we were looking at  what the apostles have done as a follow-up of Jesus Mission, how powerful they used the name of Jesus to continue the work, and many signs and wonders were witnessed during their time and extended to our generation as I testified of the one that led to the establishment of Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria. I read Ms. Kuhlman’s biography and was amazed at the extent of the work of God that God performed through her. There were many stories of the move of God even before she started to minister. Many healings took place by just stepping into the crusade ground. I also read the book of another man of God that God used mightily to raise the dead to life. So also we know of Prophet or Pastor Reinhard Bonke that is known all over the world with his uncompromising faith in God to do anything He desires to do. Apart from these isolated cases, I still wonder why most churches are not operating in the same magnitude as in the time of apostles. Jesus is still on the throne and he desires that his word should set them free from any form of bondage. Do we water down His word when we preach? Is this why lives are not changed as it is supposed to be. Thousands of people go to church and yet many lives are not transformed, and the church is filled with half-baked Christians, which run from church to church or from one crusade to another or from one prophet to another. People have lost focus of the main agenda of Jesus, and that was “to do His Father’s work”.  The focus was to preach the gospel, and the gospel is to know the Father, and believe in Jesus that was sent. I Corinthians 15: 3-4 says, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”  If the gospel is preached to show us that Christ died for our sins, why are we still in bondage to sin which leads to sickness and death. Why are we not enjoying the liberty that Jesus’s death gave to us?  Let us ask for mercy and pray that Jesus will help us to build his church again. Christ is the head of his Church and leaders should give back the church to Him so that He can clean the church again and release His power to heal all manner of diseases, and to cast out devils. If miracles are happening in churches again, people will run to churches for deliverance. Those who are possessed with evil spirits and are killing people will be helped by praying for their deliverance, because medication is not solving their problems.  The knowledge of Jesus Christ and what He came to do would have brought many unbelievers to believe in Christ so that they could be saved. The church has been so corrupted that many people are scared of going to church, and if they do, they do not trust one another.

How long are we believers going to continue to do church forgetting the way the owner of the church did it? He came to destroy the works of Satan, especially those that Satan has held captives for so long, or imprisoned, or separated from their parents because of divorce and their life have not remained the same, and those he held under bondage of alcohol and drugs despite the fact that they know the drugs are harmful to their health.. Many people are hurt and do not know how to get relief. They do not know what Jesus is able to do for them, because they have not seen it in the lives of the believers around them. Hebrew 13:8 says, “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever”.

Prayer… Brothers and sisters, let us pray more earnestly for fresh outpouring of the Holy Ghost upon all believers so as to see demonstration of the power of God that will change hearts and bring fear of God upon all in Jesus Name, Amen.
