Zechariah 4:6-7…This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying “Not by might, nor by power, but my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain; and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying Grace, grace unto it.”
The scripture of today is one of the ways God opens our understanding to the fact that He is the One in full control of every situation. This message was sent to Zerubbabel , the governor of Judah to encourage him to continue the rebuilding of the house of the LORD. The house was started and then abandoned for about sixteen years for their own personal affairs. He told the prophet to tell the governor that the building of the Temple will be completed by God Himself through His Spirit in Zerubbabel. Every great mountain that had hindered the project thus far is coming down, saith the LORD and by the time it is completed, the people shall shout, Grace, Grace unto it. In the eyes of God it is already completed and also had sent His blessings to it.
How do we perceive those things that have been hindering us from achieving God’s purpose in our life? We need to speak the word of God to our mountain, as is written in Matthew 17:20.. that “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you”. The power to make things happen lies in our Faith. What is faith then? Hebrew 11:1-3 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” If the word of God can bring into existence all that we see or that we can feel, then it does not matter the kind of mountain facing me, the word of God can nullify every one of them, I need to use my spiritual eyes to behold its manifestation and consider it done. My faith must rise when I know that what I am asking for is the will of God concerning my life. For example, if I have been praying for the fruit of the womb for years, my hope must be built on the solid rock of the word of God that says “none of His children shall be barren, or miscarry or cast their young” (Exodus 23:25-26). Since I am one of His own, I will be preparing for the coming of these children every day and be thanking Him for them. I will continue to read about those who were in that situation and have received their breakthrough and then use them as point of contact for my own. This is the reason why the Bible was written so that we can build own faith in the God of the universe who is able to do all things. Do not forget that God is bigger than your mountain, and if He can level the mountain of Zerubbabel, and that of Abraham and Sarah and gave them Isaac at their old age (!00 years and 90 years), and opened the Red sea for the children of Israel to pass through, and supplied manna from heaven for their daily food, your mountain is no problem for Him to pull down.
Therefore whatever the problem you are facing, use the word of God to pull it down. Nothing can withstand the Spirit of God. “Not by might, nor by power , but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts”
Prayer… Lord level every mountain before me, and let me testify to your goodness in the land of the living.
