Proverbs 4: 18…But the path of the just is as shinning light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The Bible says the entrance of the word of God gives light, it gives understanding unto the simple (Psalm 119:130). The Word of God is also referred to as a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. So for us to walk in the path of righteousness, and be blameless, the word of God must be allowed to enter into us so that we can have more understanding of what it means to live a godly life. Reading, meditating and digesting the word of God opens eyes of understanding and gives us more wisdom to choose to do the right thing. The Bible tells us that many prophets were given the word to eat, and they were able to do exactly as they were instructed. Let us see examples in the scriptures. Jeremiah 1: 9-10 says “Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth, “And the LORD said unto me, Behold I have put my words in thy mouth. See I have this day set thee over the nations, and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” . The word of God was also given to Ezekiel to eat, Ezekiel 3: 1-4 reads, ” Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest, eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the roll. And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it, and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them”. From these verses we could see the importance of the word of God in the assignment given to them. They were empowered with the word, and they were able to discharge their duties as instructed. Even when there was so much persecution in the case of Jeremiah and they did not want to hear “Thus saith the LORD ” anymore, Jeremiah recorded that he would have loved to be quiet, but he couldn’t, because the words of God in him was like fire in his bones.” Therefore the word of God which was alive and powerful in them helped them all through their journey in life and also made them to discharge their duties accurately.
The scripture of today also confirms that the path of believers is just as shinning light, which should shine brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. The word of God is a lamp and the entrance of the word of God in us brings light. So for the lamp to do its work it has to be refueled, therefore we have to allow the word of God to dwell richly in us so that we can have more understanding of how to live a righteous life. The more the word in us, the more the grace that will be released upon us to be able to obey his commandments. Joshua !:8 declares the “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein, for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and thou shalt have good success. This is the same as becoming a shinning star in the vineyard of Christ. Joshua obeyed every word of God and he prospered. He led the children of Israel to the promised land. Daniel was referred to as “being precious” in the sight of God and revelations of what would happen at the end of age was opened to him. Daniel prospered and had great success in a foreign land.
Thus it should be the desire of a believer to have his light to shine brighter and brighter, and conforming more and more to the image of Christ. Let us spend more time on the word of God so that we can be empowered to do exploits for God. I pray the LORD will increase his anointing upon us more and more in Jesus name, Amen.
Prayer.. LORD release your power to read the word of God to me and to meditate on it daily in Jesus Name, Amen.
