Jeremiah 17:7-8…Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit (KJV).
Many scriptures have emphasized the need to trust in the Lord, and I believe the reason is for us to be able to apply our hearts to wisdom. The fact that man does not have a say on some of the issues of life, is enough reason in my own opinion, to trust the Creator absolutely. Among so many issues that man has no control over, is the fact that you were not given the opportunity to choose your biological parents, or your biological children. So your parents and children were ordained by God. Being black or white biologically is out of your control also. Also being born into a royal family (with silver spoon in your mouth) or into a poor family is out of your radar also. You can continue to fill in the blank spaces, and you will agree with me that God, the creator of the universe, is the Master planner, the Architect, the Constructor, the Builder, the Plumber, the Electrician, the Operator and on and on, of your life and mine. So whatever your origin or background, white or black, you were placed in that family for a reason. Whatever your marital status, age or ethnicity is, you are all handiwork of God. Therefore the need to know my duty or assignment wherever I find myself should be my priority so that I can achieve my purpose in life. We have seen different levels of successes in the world, and they are not based on their levels of education, or their origin, or their race. We know of some college drop-outs who became millionaires, whilst some highly educated college professors barely make ends meet. What all these comparisons boil down to is that you cannot use man’s yardstick to measure your success because the Creator of the universe creates his own yardstick which cannot be contested with.
God ordains these different levels we have seen so that the world will know that He is God, who rules in the affairs of men. He says “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion (Exodus 33:19) . Moses made the children of Israel to understand these truths about life when he recounted all that God had done for them in Deuteronomy 7:6-9 which reads thus, “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers (Abraham’s blessings), the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”
To still be among those that can receive the goodness of the LORD among the living, irrespective of your background, you have full control over this, because it depends on your attitude to the word of God. The word of God says, “Blessed are those that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD.” Though I am not an Israeli by birth, but the Bible tells me that ” as many as received Him (as LORD and Savior) to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12). Since I have received Him and believed in Him, I am now a born again daughter of God, and I have all the rights, privileges and blessings that are due unto the children of Israel. I claim all the promises, and I start to walk in obedience to the word of God, walking in holiness and fear of God. I do not look unto the world, to achieve the world’s success any more, but looking unto the ONE that promised me a permanent and eternal success. In this spiritual kingdom, the success and prosperity can be achieved when I put all my hope in the LORD. Romans 9:16 says, “So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” This means His mercy will direct me, teach me and protect me as it is written in Psalm 32:8-10.” I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.” When Mercy surrounds me. I will be blessed as I go out and as I come back in, My life will now be “like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which spreads its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought , Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Just as the tree by the waters lack no water or nutrients, so also those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. Their life are secured in the hand of God, under the shadow of the Almighty, and every thing they lay their hands on shall prosper.
Therefore brothers and sisters, if you have not considered the God of Israel as your God, and believe on the “Sent One, Jesus” the One who died on the cross to take away your sins and mine sins, and gave us eternal life in the kingdom of God, please do so today, because the benefits of being his son or daughter surpasses anything you can imagine in this world (Gold or Silver), and you will enjoy abundant life here on earth and then continue with Him for ever and ever in the kingdom of God (Heaven). The LORD keeps us till the end, in Jesus name, AMEN.
Prayer…LORD Jesus, keep me focused on you and help me put all my hope and aspirations in you, so that I can enjoy abundant life here on earth, and still reign with you in your kingdom in Jesus Name, Amen..
