Hosea 4: 6…My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

There have been calls from different sectors calling for prayers concerning different things that need God’s intervention. We are having more awareness of the fact that we have all strayed away from God and the situation we are now in demands raising altar of prayer unto God. Unfortunately the problem we are all facing now is not localized but global. The whole world is groaning in pain, there is no peace anywhere. How did we get here we might ask? We were enjoying the goodness of God in the land of the living and we thought our knowledge made them available. We were all engrossed in acquiring worldly knowledge, from developing modern means of transportation (boat, motor, airplane and so on), to developing computers, mobile communication devises, weapons of war (gun, bomb, nuclear weapons) and different other tools for human comfort. While their knowledge increases in all these areas, they forgot to acknowledge God as the source. Therefore as they search for human wisdom, the knowledge of God started  to decrease and pride sets in. Instead of the Fear of God which should have brought Peace into the world, nations are now against themselves and power tussle sets in,

It is unfortunate that we allowed the state of affairs of mankind to get to a deplorable situation before we started to cry to God.  We have allowed our comfort to deprive us of seeking God and putting Him at the center of our lives. In order not to be in this situation, Moses warned the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 8:18-20 that reads thus, “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish , because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.”  This was exactly what happened to the children of Israel. After the death of Joshua, the children of Israel went after other gods, they did not remember the God of their forefathers.  God raised up many prophets to guide them. Hosea was one of the prophets that God used to demonstrate his love for his people by warning them. Hosea 4:1 says, “Hear the word of the LORD ye children of Israel, for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing , and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.” He went on to say there was no difference between the people and the priest, therefore because they had rejected knowledge of God, God had also rejected them, and they were now sent out of their land to the land of their captivity for 70 years.

Looking into the scriptures to see the judgment of God upon any nation that does not obey His voice, we should not be surprised at what we are witnessing today. The controversy that God hath with the inhabitants of Israel, is the same problem with us today. There is no truth, no mercy, no knowledge of God.  Swearing, lying, killing, stealing, committing adultery are the order of the day in our world of today. What we need to do so that we don’t perish is to go to God and cry for MERCY on our generation. The sins that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah are very rampant among us today. Do we think that God has changed his DO’s and DON’T’s? Why don’t we go back to the manual (Bible) and learn from the stories written, and amend our ways, so that we too will not likewise perish? No one can eat half baked cake or bread. Therefore lukewarmness cannot take us to heaven. We are either there or we are not. Let us heed the word of Hosea 6:1-3 that says, “Come let us return unto the LORD for he hath torn, and he will heal us, he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us; in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD, his going forth is prepared as the morning, and he shall come to us as the rain, as the latter, and the former rain unto the earth.” Our God is a MERCIFUL God, full of LOVE and COMPASSION. The LORD will answer our prayers as we cry unto Him in Jesus name. AMEN.

Prayer..LORD look unto us with mercy and meet us at the point of our needs  by releasing your Holy Spirit unto us to help us and guide us so that we can make Heaven in Jesus Name, Amen.
