Ephesians 2: 8-10…For by grace are ye saved through Faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

There is a song in my dialect that goes thus “This kind God O, I have never seen his kind O, This kind God O, blessed be your Holy Name.” The meaning of the song is that there is no one like our God, and we bless His Holy Name. Every day of our lives, we should be reflecting on God’s goodness on mankind. If He did not take the step of coming to save us Himself, no one could have been good enough for that sacrifice and we would have continued offering animals as “sin offering, trespass offering , burnt offering and all others that were the practice in the Old Testament, because our sins would have become intolerable. For Him to love us to the point of laying down His life for us is magnanimous and I don’t know how to quantify the depth of his LOVE for us all. It is beyond human comprehension. Personally I looked back on all my rebellious  acts and my sins against God, I deserved nothing but death, because the Bible says “the wages of sin is death”, but I thank God for forgiving me all my sins and also for giving me another chance to put it right.

I remember the story of Ananias and his wife Sapphira who sold their possession, and brought part of the money to the apostles but lied that what they brought was the entire money. The Holy Spirit revealed the truth to Peter and  Peter said “Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart ? Thou has not lied unto men, but unto God.”  And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost. His wife came after him , confirmed that the money brought by her husband was the entire money and she too fell down and gave up the ghost. (Acts 5: 1-7). Now can any of us say categorically that we have not done anything of this nature since we became Christ followers?

Personally I have done worse things than this, and many of us have done one thing or the other to offend God. If instant death were to be given as penalty these days, many of us would have been gone long ago. But it pleases God to make Salvation available to the whole world through His Son, Jesus Christ, so that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life as a gift from God. We thank God that this grace is made available to us because there is no one that does not sin. Psalm 14:1-3  says “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”  Therefore it is for this purpose that we are saved from eternal damnation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The acronym of GRACE is God’s Riches At Christ Expense. Christ died for us so as to make atonement for our sins.  There is no amount of money that we have that can save us from perishing or the amount of work that we can do to earn our salvation. Nobody can boast of living a righteous life without Christ. The work we do is possible because Christ lives in us once we are born again, and He is the ONE working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13) That is to say we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works. All our righteousness is like a filthy rag, therefore we need continuous grace to be released upon us to be able to do His good work. Whatever work we find ourselves doing , we are doing unto the LORD, there is nothing to boast about, we are vessels in His Hand.

Therefore we are saved by GRACE, and every day that we are still living, let us continue to appreciate God’s grace because of what Jesus did for us. We must not abuse this grace, but rather, with reverence, Fear God and Obey all His statutes and ordinances because we cannot continue in sin and ask His GRACE to abound. God forbid the Bible says. Therefore if you have not decided to give your life to Christ, please  do it today because it is through Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross that can save us. If you say you are in Christ Jesus, and you are drinking sin as if you are drinking water, this message is for you, that the GRACE of God is sufficient to save you if you run to Him today and ask genuinely for His strength, The Bible says we can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens us.(Philippians 4:13).  I pray that the GRACE of God will be released upon us more abundantly to live a life free from sin from now on so that when Jesus comes we will be spotless and blameless in Jesus Name, Amen.

Prayer….LORD uphold us to the end, and strengthen the weak ones and bring others that are yet to know you to the knowledge of who you are in Jesus Name, Amen.
