Proverbs 18:10…The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
The world as we know it today centers on security. You buy a car, there is an amount you have to pay to secure the car in case of theft, accident or any unforeseen circumstances. When you buy a house, the bank requires you to secure the loan in case of fire, flood, damage of any kind, so that their money could be recovered. You are also required to get your health secured in case of any sickness that requires medical bill that you cannot handle. Even in case of death which is inevitable, you are also required to secure this so that your children can handle your remains, that is purchasing a suitable place for burial. All these requirements are part of your financial responsibility that you have to make allowance for every month. At the end of it all, you ask yourself, how much comes back to you as gain. For example since I bought my new car which I insured for X amount of money, I had not taken any thing from the insurer because the new car did not break down and once the car gets to a certain mileage, I am not covered any longer and all the money paid have no returns to me. If anything happens to it after that it becomes my own problem, not theirs. Another example is collision insurance which is mandatory for any driver to pay and when you happen to be involved in one accident and they have to pay damages, the next thing you will notice is that your premium will go up as a penalty for the accident. Of what use then is the security that we pay so much to earn, and yet we get no benefit in return.
The scripture of today focuses on the security that is long lasting and it brings you benefit here and in the life to come. Acts 4:12 says “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved”. Saved from what we might ask? John 3:16-17 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” The reason why we need the Savior to save mankind is that all mankind have sinned and the wages (penalty) of our sins is death. Death that is being referred to here is separation from God which is spiritual separation if we continue in our sin. But if we believe in the Son of God whose Name is Jesus, we will be forgiven all our sins, and we then take on the righteousness of Jesus Christ, which is the gift of God which makes us to inherit eternal life with Him in heaven (Romans 6:23).
Now you can pay all that I enumerated above and yet have no satisfaction in any of them because the earthly security is set up for the purpose of enriching themselves while the insured is not really benefitted. Unfortunately there is no way around it, you have to obey it because it is mandatory. On the contrary, God’s own security is FREE because it has been PAID for. The BLOOD of the INSURER (JESUS CHRIST) was shed on the cross of Calvary for this purpose. This security covers your health, your car, your home, and even your destiny at the end of your life here on earth. God the Father sent His Son for this purpose because of His LOVE for us. The Son also agreed with the Father because of His LOVE for mankind. To be insured with no expiration date or yearly renewal, all you have to do is to reciprocate that LOVE by believing in that Name (Jesus) which is the only Name given to us for safety.
The scripture says, “the Name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe”. Why will you not run into the arms of the ONE who provides you with strong tower where you will be forever secured come rain or sunshine. Some of the safety you will receive daily are as follows: Psalm 121:5-7 says; The LORD is your keeper, The LORD is your shade at your right hand, The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night, The LORD shall preserve you from all evil, He shall preserve your soul, The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in, From this time forth, and even forever more, Amen. Psalm 91: 1-end..”He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…He shall cover you with His feathers…You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor the arrow that flies by day….they shall not come near you…” Psalm 23:1.. The LORD is your Shepherd and you shall lack nothing. These are but a few of all the benefits that you have been given for accepting the LORD JESUS as your Savior, and submitting yourself to Him, so that you can enjoy ALL that He has for you. Remember that your safety has already been paid for, and nothing can by any means hurt you, but do not stray away from under the tower, for it is dangerous and costly. God bless you as you keep on reading the word of God and abiding by them.
Prayer.. LORD keep me and my family secured under your shadow in Jesus Name, Amen.
