Isaiah 40:31..But they that wait upon the LORD, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.
When I looked back upon my life from the time I was born to my adult stage, I could see that many things that happened to me were designed by God step by step, and it has placed me in a position that I least expected that I could ever get to. When it comes to getting higher education, the LORD placed me in the hand of somebody who had already gotten the college degree, to be my husband. Though it was the desire of my father to educate his children, but because there was no manpower to continue, he sent me to another city where I could get a job after High school, and that was where I met my husband, whom God used for me to achieve my father’s goal for my life. My father had every opportunity to refuse my getting married early but because he knew how to wait on the Lord, he was able to give his approval to this marriage, and God used this to take me to my next level.
Waiting on the LORD simply means committing your life and all that pertains to it in his Hand. Proverbs 3:6 says “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Despite the fact that I was married and was also rearing children, He gave me the strength to go through my education without giving up on the way because of pressure of coping with academics and family concurrently. It is true that ONLY God renews one’s strength. If anybody asks me today, how did I go through this journey and still able to pass with good grades, I could only say Jesus helped me, and how He did it I don’t know. I did not know then as much as I know now about my God, but what was clear to me was that I needed God’s help to pull me through, and so I remembered that I always committed the little study time I had to God so that I could make the best use of my time. So he helped me by giving me understanding in all that I read, and this encouraged me to move on to Ph.D degree. God again in His infinite mercies opened a way out of no way to come to the USA to finish my doctoral research because of poor facilities in the country.
All that I have enumerated about my life’s journey have been possible because of the fact that my parents, my husband, my father-in-law, and many others (including my siblings) were instruments that God used to get me to my position today. God is the ONE that can give power to the weak, and to those that have no might, he increases their strength. He surrounded me with people that know how to wait on the LORD. When you wait on the LORD, there must not be any anxiety because you know that there is nothing insurmountable by God. Nothing can stop eagles from flying and reaching their destination. The verse says, God will renew your strength, and then allow you to mount up with wings as eagles, and even when you run, you will not be weary and when you walk your strength will keep you going because you will not faint. You can do ALL things through his strength.
“WAIT” in this verse could also be likened to somebody who wants to receive from the LORD and does not know when the answer will come. The verse is also telling us to continue to draw on His strength so that the PATIENCE we need to wait for His answer will be given to us. Abraham and Sarah waited for fruit of the womb until their old age, and before the actual manifestation of God’s promise, Sarah ran out of PATIENCE, and made her maid to sleep with her husband, and this brought Ishmael to the world, and for many years, they were in this family feud together because it was not the plan of God for Abraham. Even today, the problem between Israeli and the Arabs is because of these two descendants of Abraham (Isaac and Ishmael). It is good to WAIT on the LORD in prayers and trust Him completely because He knows what He is doing and has the CLOCK in His Hand. He is never LATE and is always ON TIME. When you learn how to wait on Him, you will cast all your burdens on Him, and you will then RELAX, and be EXPECTANT that “it shall come to pass” one day, and that day shall be a joyous occasion for people to rejoice with you. It is well with you in Jesus name, Amen.
Prayer..Lord renew my strength as I wait on you to bring to pass that change in my life that will give glory to your name.Amen.
