Isaiah 59:1-3..Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity, your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
Many times we wonder why our prayers are not answered as soon as we call upon Him. Did He not say, Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you? (Matthew 7:7). The reason why our prayers are not receiving immediate attention is because we defile ourselves with sins and God is a HOLY God. Though He loves us but hates our sins. His face is hidden from sins. Those of us who are called by His Name, if we can examine ourselves daily and be mindful of our way of life, and then purge ourselves of those things that easily cause us to sin, the LORD would listen to our cries as soon as we lift our voices to Him. Since all of us cannot be Christ followers, evil would still be found all around us, but we that have professed to his leadership cannot afford to do what the heathen do. Isaiah 52:11 says Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing, go ye out of the midst of her, be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
We have been called unto holiness and total separation from things that can defile us. We should be like father Abraham who was able to intercede for Sodom and Gomorrah, and the LORD listened to Him. We should be like Daniel who asked that God would show Him Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and its interpretation, and the LORD answered immediately. We must walk before the LORD with pure mind, clean hands, pure motives. Psalm 15 declare “Who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to His neighbor…he that sweareth to his own hurt and changeth not. These are the problems that are found in the church of today. If Christians are doing all these, how do we expect our prayers to be answered? Therefore let us watch ourselves on a daily basis and make conscious effort with the help of God to RUN FROM SIN, so that we can be in a better position to ask and receive, seek and find, and knock for the door to be opened.
The situation in the world today requires urgent prayers to our God so that we can be delivered from different kinds of oppression that we face everyday. God is waiting for us that are vessels to present ourselves holy before him so that we can intercede on behalf of nations, leaders, governors, and all those in authority for God to work through them. Isaiah 59:16 says..”And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor…”Ezekiel 22:30 also says..”And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none”. These scriptures point to the importance of one man (His own people) standing in the gap. He did not say the whole world but one man. Let us pull ourselves together in unity as one man, whose faith can move mountains. Then with our prayers we will declare the mountain to move and it shall be so for us in Jesus Name, Amen.
Prayer..Lord prepare me to be a vessel of honor which will be pure and holy for you. Use me for your glory Amen.
