Psalms 91:9-10..If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you, no plague will come near your home(NIV).
Every time you turn on your TV, or listen to Radio, or turn on any electronic devise, you are sure you will hear news that are troubling. You will be notified of car jacking, killings, accidents, natural disasters, suicide, homicide and the news is endless. These happenings are not localized in one region but have a wide spread across the whole world. Where do we then consider a safe haven where we can be rest assured of our safety?
The Psalmist reiterated that the only SURE place is in the LORD. If you make the LORD your refuge, the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you and no plague will come near your home. This is written for you and for me and that is why we need to hide ourselves under the shadow of the Almighty. To hide yourself under the shadow of God is to live continuously in His presence. When you are aware that God is everywhere, then you focus on Him for everything. You trust Him, depend on Him, and wait on Him in every step of the way. This is what it means to seek the LORD so that He can hide you under His pavilion whenever trouble comes. When you allow His word to abide in you, you will be like David who seeks to live in the house of the LORD all the days of his life to behold the beauty of the LORD (Psalm 27:4). He will guide you through dreams, visions, prophecy or through his word that is hidden in you. Once you recognize his way of speaking to you, then you will learn obedience to His Word.
Surely we are in a troubled world, there is evil being perpetrated every day, and the end is drawing closer. The Bible says devil is a roaring lion seeking whom to devour because he has but a short time. Evil will not prevail against us when we know how to keep our hearts and minds pure for God. When we trust him completely we will be like the three Hebrew men (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) that refused to bow down to the statue that Nebuchadnezzar made but depend on God for saving them and if He (God) chose not to) they are not bothered because being with Him (in heaven) is better than disobeying Him and living with the guilt for ever. In this situation he came down into the fire to safe them. Indeed God is our refuge, and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalms 46).
Remember that He will never fail you. He knows what He is doing even when we don’t understand. Just trust Him as your refuge and shelter. He will always hide you and your family under the shadow of his wings. The LORD keeps you and your family safe and firmly secured in His hand until His return. AMEN.
